INTERVIEW WENT WELL -- KEEP THOSE GOOD THOUGHTS COMING |
|
Interview went well, The company was not what I was expecting, good vibes, no corporate snootyness, laid back atmosphere and it's actually a small office type setting. They didn't blink when I told then my salary requirements. Interviewed by 3 engineers and senior drafter.
had to do a drawing for them to show I know how to use autocad. Then met with the HR person, who told me there were several interviews, and that while I was working on the drawing the engineers did indicate they were pleased with what I had to offer.
She said they would be in touch with me by monday-tuesday...
Meanwhile, I had to stop at the store on the way home. When I got back into my partner's truck - there were no brakes - total mush down to floor board. Fortunately, I wasn't far from our mechanic, driving slow, using the standard shift and pumping the brakes I managed to drive it safely to the garage.
truck should be fixed by late today, early tomorrow.
So that's #3, right? losing my job, smashing my car and no brakes on the truck... Please tell me this run of getting smacked with the crap-stick is over...

1. Sunny days are ahead for you |
|
Stuff happens. It's all in how you deal with it.
You kept good control of that truck even though the brakes were out! THink of that in terms of your life. You are still steering the vehicle even though the brakes were out. You were in control of the speed and were able to guide yourself to somewhere you could get help.
Hope your dogs pad is healing.

3. Always nice when the interview goes well |
|
Congratulations, I always enjoy the day after a good interview.
Now, if you can, send a nice thank you note, by mail. Of the last 7 positions we interviewed for, only 2 people for all 7 positions actually mailed a thank you note to the hiring manager and the HR person and both of them got the job. If you are on the fence with one other person and you are the only one that sent a thank you note they will remember you well in the post interview meetings. It may not make the difference but it sure doesn't hurt. If you know the names of everyone you interviewed personally with it's a nice touch to send them all a note if possible.
Also, I try not to be superstitious but I'm always waiting for number 3 as well when life is shitty. I think I just feel better after the 3rd piece of bad news because psychologically I'm not looking for another one around the next corner.
Best of luck with the job.

6. Good advice on the thank you |
|
I always email a thank you, and it does make a difference to me on the rare occasion I'm involved in the hiring process.

5. Great about the Interview!. . Now, about the truck,. . |
|
I'm glad it didn't happen on the way to the interview. Car trouble is like a backed up john. . NOTHING gets done until it's taken care of.

7. forgot to mention -- the HR person is a kindred spirit |
|
she mentioned how dismayed she is at all the jobs leaving the country and was worried about the future...
then she sort of darted her eyes around and asked in a hushed voice "you're not a republican are you?"
Me: heaven forbid
she chuckled and asked "do you think we can hope for an impeachment or will we have to wait for the election to get rid of bush?"
Me: I'm praying for impeachment.
Then her phone rang, we shook hands and I left...
