Not a day goes by on which I don't miss Molly Ivins. |
|
She could always be counted on to relieve the insanity with a good laugh. Nobody could slice and dice politicians better than Molly.
Imagine what her take would have been on Gingrich thinking he could become prez and then spitting on Hispanic "ghettos" to show us how qualified he is. Or Matthew Dowd's "atonement" for all the years he spent as a Texas-whore-for-Bush. Or the outrageous appointment of "Swiftboat Sam Fox" as ambassador to Belgium. Not to mention McCain's hilarious little trip to the market.
Every time the Republicans gave us the finger, she would hurl it back at them with humor, wit and perfect aim. Reading or listening to her made the injustices of the world more bearable, at least for a little while.
I'll never stop missing her.

6. RFK, Paul Wellstone, Ann Richards, Molly. Elizabeth Edwards has cancer. I always think that. |
|
Even when Reagan and Wallace were shot, they survived. Not that I wished them dead, but when great liberals get shot, they die. And if anyone dies an early death, it's never a right-winger. Only exception I can think of is Lee Atwater, and it seemed the moment he apologized for his evil deeds, he died. Yes, I think about this all the time. Why, God, why?

Think what we'd be if there had never been a Molly Ivins!
God bless her good soul! I will never forget her.

"I wonder what Molly would say" should be tattooed on my forehead.

Honestly, this crowd makes The Gang that Couldn't Shoot Straight look like Special Forces.

8. We were hit really hard |
|
in Texas this year. Those gals (Ann and Molly)could fillet a GOB politician's ego better than anyone. And I miss them dearly.
I was in the 1/2 price books the other day and saw Molly's book-"The Short Happy ..." I hadn't read it so I was happy to snap it up. What a treat for me-like having a good cup of coffee with a great friend.

"We are the people who run this country. We are the deciders. And every single day, every single one of us needs to step outside and take some action to help stop this war. Raise hell." Molly Ivins 1944-2007
