6. I pay a service.
I have used the same service for many years. However, I have given them until July 1st to switch to battery operated mowers and whacker or I will switch to a new company.

7. I selected the first option for hubby. Told him to plant native
plants and put in a rock garden, but he wants to be like the neighbors and keep a green lawn in front. At least I talked him out of fertilizing it.

9. Other - combination
we killed off some of the lawn and replaced it with wildflower meadow which we mow annually:

The rest (which is still most of the lawn, I'd like to change that) we mow weekly.

10. Other.
I cut it once in a while with a push motorless mower. In Northern California, I do not water it, yet even the brown grass grows and has to be trimmed occasionally. Most of the yard is planted with now brown clover, fava beans, arugula, collards, and a few vegetables and fruit trees which need some watering.

28. I can barely handle the snow with a snow-blower. The drive and walks are MUCH smaller than the lawn.
 Mowing, raking, clipping, and edging is a far more back-breaking (almost literally) task than running the snow-blower. Even the latter makes it nearly impossible for me to walk for about 30 minutes afterwards due to the pain.

18. there's a middle ground
of cutting your grass every ten days or so. Plus, in Kansas we typically have a six week dry spell where you don't have to mow for weeks.

Still, uh, I paid $35,000 for this house about 8 years ago. It's now assessed at $55,000. It's been totally paid off for over three years. So my only expenses are $600 a year for insurance and $800 a year for taxes. About $120 a month, and no 'neighbors' stomping and clomping above me, or complaining about my stomping and clomping below me. And I can practice my trumpet or crank my stereo (if I had a stereo) at 2 a.m. without bothering anybody.

31. I CAN ride it. And i have told him if he gets a regular lawn mower then
i'd gladly mow the lawn. at least he put power steering in the tractor. I could do it if I had to, but while the tractor isn't huge, it's bigger than I am used to. And we have a rather large lawn to mow. He had a zero turn also last year, but sold it. He goes down to a neighbor and will mow her lawn for her also. She's elderly. Nice old lady. The tractor is nice and useful around here. And I am sure if I actually used it I probably would get over the fear of it. But I don't have to do that right now. LOL! that's what bob is for. He fixes most anything and loves mowing the lawn.

me and my friend john deere.
this spring has been VERY conducive to grass growing.
we've got slightly over an acre of mowing to do.
big change from when we lived in the city, i had an electric mower, and could mow the whole 'lawn' in 10 minutes, with one 25' extension cord....but that was before we got rid of the lawn entirely in favor of perennials, ground cover, a rock garden, fountains, and yard art. we'd like to do the same out here in sub-urbia, but it's going to take some doing, and some time.

25. Lawn Service every Friday.
It took my 5 hours to mow my yard. My time is too valuable to spend walking behind a mower, dumping the clippings in my compost pile in 85 degree heat and humidity. Worth the money. Now, if only it would get sunny and hit 85! It has been cloudy and/or rainy for weeks. Ugh.

29. Wha? This isn't a "assholery" poll.....
I've lived in this home for more than 10 years and I was just admiring the FACT that every one of my neighbors, with the exception of one, cuts their own grass.

The ONE exception has a FORCE of mexican guys who dutifully arrive at 6:30 am and cut/leaf-blow and basically "break the peace"/silence in our little neighborhood.

For them, "it's a "job"......no "bigger" statement. It just "is".
