keeping our children safe yet being willing to have them trained to kill

I just cannot get out of my mind how many families try to find the right place to live, safe places, etc. Yet their children join the military with all the woohoo and hurrah of it and the reality - they are trained to kill - and they are sent over to iraq and put in a much more dangerous situation then living in a bad neighborhood (I assume) since they are now targets.

Yes the idea of the military is to protect us- but they have been used in so many terrible ways since wwII and it just seems to increase the terror and hate of usa - especially now with the torture and genocide of all males in the country by invading their homes

Sorry about the rant - just tired of calling them heros - when they are fighting a illegitimate way - no it is not their fault in many ways - most signed up before the chimp - but they still signed up and learned to kill - trained to kill

how can we support training our children to kill and yet be against gangs on the streets who do the same thing - we can't seem to keep our own 'insurgents' in our streets from killing people - what the hell are we doing in another country killing the people there.

It just all seems so wrong - and the glorification so that we don't make them feel bad like Vietnam somehow seems like enabling -

how many have come back and committed terrible crimes because they were taught to kill - the DC sniper - the oklahoma bombing -

I think the Peace Department that Kuninch talks about is very much needed

We have too many military bases in too many countries where some 'bad apples' then wreck havoc on the local women -
