Wanna feel a little better after the Dave deal?
Politicians have to "do" Letterman during elections, McCain took a huge hit when he ditched Letterman. Leno's basically gone and Conan doesn't have the political chops yet. Palin will need Letterman if she's thinking about running. It's obvious her, her husband, and her team of mental giants haven't thought far enough ahead to four years from now. Letterman has complete say on his guest list, the network may have made him make this apology but the network won't make him book her four years from now. This stunt is going to take a huge bit out of her come four years from now, she'll be begging Dave.

1. i was thinking this was probably why some big name Republicans didn't attack Dave
the only big name one to criticize Dave was McCain and that was because of what you mention happened after he cancelled the appearance.

but have NEwt, Romney, Pawlenty and other potential 2012s said anything ?

2. And at that point Dave should...
At that point Dave should tell her what portion of his anatomy she may kiss. And I'm going to stop right now because that's not a very nice mental image.

3. Oh it's going to be worse than that
But it's going to be so slick she won't be able to do anything but stew.

6. oh, yeah, it'll be VERY slick.
Dave is very smart. It may take a while, but he will win this one in the end.

9. I agree....they won this skirmish, but I suspect that they will come to regret this.
Dave and his writers are going to be merciless with their ridicule over the next few years. He won't make the same mistake again...but I'm going to enjoy the special attention Barbie will be getting from Dave. And all she has to do is talk. It's going to be brutal.

4. also, Conan and Dave have a good relationship which wasn't the case with DAve and Leno
Conan isn't going to let her on the show as a way to use it against Dave and help herself.

and Conan already made a similar joke last year which shows more how phony the outrage is.

5. You assume that "politicians have to 'do' Letterman during elections"...
...because there used to be a thriving late-night talk show scene that included politics. But, as you point out, there really isn't one (aside from Letterman) any more. If they manage to can Dave (and, right now, I'd say it's 50-50 they'll succeed), there won't be any need for candidates to go on late night television anymore, except maybe for Stewart/Colbert. Conservatives will go on Faux, progressives on MSNBC, and anyone not wanting to totally write off the women's vote will make a token appearance on Oprah. But kill Letterman, and late-night network talk as a political venue is over and done with.

7. He stopped her,
and he did with cool logic, giving the absolutely untouchable appearance of a thoughtful man who is big enough to take a hit, even as he knows - as any sentient being knows - that he's without fault in this one and she's been nothing but insanely opportunistic and really, really stupid.

Take on Conan. Take on Ferguson. Take on Kimmel.

But, honestly, you really have to be dumber than a box of rocks to take on Dave.

You do not screw with Dave. The Shrew Palin obviously didn't take a cue from John McCain. And she wanted to be our Vice-President??????????????

The Shrew Palin seems to be incapable of doing anything except make a fool of herself. Dave neutralized her with that all-purpose "apology". She is absolutely hamstrung now, can't say another word without looking like a bigger bully than she already appears to be.

Now, I'm just waiting to hear that her next older daughter, the other teenager, next younger to Bristol, has gotten herself knocked up or has moved out of the house and into a double-wide with her older lesbian lover.

The universe has a way of balancing these things out..................

8. I think you overestimate the "need" to appear on a talk show

10. I think a lot of politicians will move to Conan now.
Sure, he'll be goofy with them, but he's still safe.
