Ed Schultz and magnificent co-jones |
|
I believe we owe that man a big debt of gratitude, and I bow before him with great respect.
He loudly and repeatedly claims that Dick Cheney is attempting to re-gain power in the defunct and useless, and idea-less Republican party, by hoping that America will be attacked again and by being able to then say "I told you so". Then by default the Republicans would look strong, and we look weak.
Schultz rails against the fallacy of Cheney's claims that we have been kept safe with his methods and tactics, he calls him the most power hungry and ambitious politician in recent history, and here is the beauty of Schultzes untiring tirade:
He is beating Cheney at his own game.
The fact that Schultz stands there and says "no", over and over, to Joe Scarborough, "no" to any weak Republican (whoever it may be) who has only ad hominem attacks in his arsenal, "attacking me personally is lame and I will not back down." "Let's stay on the subject of Cheney and what his motivation is for hoping we will lose more American lives. It is raw power. It is political hardball". "Though it may not be a popular position, it is my opinion, I am not alone, and that is what is going on".
The way of course this magnificent man is turning the tables on Cheney is that by the time there might be a possibility for Cheney to cash in with an "I told you so!" Ed Schultz will have diffused that argument ahead of time.
I have never ever asked for recommendations, but I'd like those who are grateful to him for being the terrier on the pants leg of self serving injustice and scare tactics to give this a kick.

steadfastly repeat his position on Morning Joe, when Scarborough wanted to shame him. Ed would have none of it, just got back on the subject stating his right to his opinion and stuck with it. It has become a matter of courage and personal honor to Ed Schultz, I can see it and sense it. Plus, and not at all least, I also sense he sees himself as a "maverick" out there and is digging in for self serving reasons. Hey, nothing wrong with that. Self service is at the root of all we do, all of us.
For us his behavior is a massive turning point, and he is a steadfast ally. Unless he finds a dead horse head in his bed that man will not waver.

30. I only saw the bit that Ed showed on his show last night |
|
When Scarborough asked him "So you are saying that Dick Cheney wants innocent families to be killed for political gain" and Big Eddie without flinching said "yes". It was amazing to see, I have listened to his radio show for a couple of years or so but since his TV show has started I have become a huge fan of his, between Thom Hartmann and Ed Schultz in the day time on WCPT Chicago, I really don't want to leave my car in the afternoon.

5. Let me tell you why I am K&Ring your post over |
|
another one on the subject of Schultz's pwning of Cheney on Scarborough: because you politely offered a summary of his message, whereas the other posters did not. We deafies get so tired of people high-fiving such appearances but refusing to offer any sort of recap for those of us who cannot experiecne it ourselves.
A month or so ago I posted a request that people offer such sumamries with videos or when referencing videos. My request got 173 recommendations, which suggests that I am not the only one who feels this way. Many who are not even deaf also said they needed summaries, because they couldn't listen online for a variety of reasons. Nevertheless, most people are still posting threads in which they say how cool an appearance was (or in which they link to the video), but without bothering to clue us deafies in on what happened.
So because you were kind enough to recap the event for us, I K&R your post over the others.

8. Well you're opening my eyes to something I was not aware of enough. |
|
Here is what happens in my mind when I get excited about something on TV - and want to post. I think, damn, if I'm not first, it will just get lost. Then, I know I should not bother if I arrive at GD and the subject is already broached. It's a trick to type like mad, make sure if makes sense, try to sound intelligent, and still manage to get it posted without others yawning because it's old hat by now.
I will be way more sensitive to those of us who cannot hear after being honored by your post. There are other ways to get one's stuff read, than to just be first. I will as a result of what you said concentrate on substance and cohesion, and let the rest go. Thank you tblue37.

I for one dont like glory hogs. I dont even understand the wanting to be rated. I would like to be read. I dont care about stats.
This place should be larger than "This just IN". Those capable of philosophy can breathe a whole new life into subjects. That is my aim. To open minds. Show seldom considered perspectives. Those might not get ratings, but they might just change a mind for GOOD.
I like the deaf request and it is noted.

summaries help us who can't listen, read, watch every single thing out there. Helps me wade through the info overload.
(I loved Ed some years ago when I could get Air America on my car radio. So down to earth. He kind of uses the same "down to earth, regular person" style that so many CONservatives favor, only he uses it to the truth and shoot down the liars. I haven't heard him in awhile now--good to see this thread)

Being in dial-up, I, too, get tired of the "you shoulda seen/gotta see this" threads without the slightest summary of why I should expend precious bandwidth on it.
Thanks to you and to the OP for a great summary. I've been avoiding Morning Joe because I end up starting my day off pissed off 80% of the time. I wish I'd have turned it on to see Ed Schultz.

10. He's best at not being distracted by the change of 'subject' in an ad hominem attack. |
|
Rather than argue about the attack on HIM, he stuffed the ploy and charged onward. Christie and his ilk just LOVE to change the subject ... claiming Ed is being "shameful" or "ridiculous" or "not smart" ... and REFUSE to actually keep their focus on the subject.
(It's not just the neocon talking heads that do this. It's a common ploy on DU, too.)

|
Edited on Tue Jun-16-09 07:46 PM by TomCADem
I respect Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow playing devil's advocate, and airing opposing views like those of libertarian Professor Turley, whose views I respect, but I do like Ed's more narrow focus on issues like healthcare, and pushing the public option. No other program is like Ed's in this regard.
He does not get caught up in dealing with GOP distraction of the moment. He always returns to real policy issues that affect American families.
So, a big thanks to Ed.

text him during the show - either Yes or No - (and I am sorry I can't recall the exact wording of the question) but something to the effect that Cheney is hoping we would be attacked so he could say "I told you so" or for political gain - in other words - is he evil enough to wish that. At the very end of the show he said they got, Yes 98% - No 2%.

40. What I loved most about last night's show is that Ed took the Dems |
|
to task for "not having a pair." Yep he actually used those words on TV.
The number of Dems who will speak out loudly, and actually attack the wingnut owned MSM can be counted on one hand.
They really do need to be called out for their timidity, or cowardice, or, who knows what the hell it is that keeps them from attacking the unending evil that flows from the Republican Party.
Thank you, Ed Schultz. The Democrats need to be called on this each and every time they back off, look the other way, or make believe they didn't hear it.
And I too want to know the answer to Ed's question. Why don't the Dems have a pair?
Go, Ed. For everyone who speaks out publicly, there are thousands who don't have the means to make their opinions heard.

reliable and most important he has good judgment. He just thinks clearly and comes to the correct conclusions.
What a great team: Olbermann, Madow and Schultz (and I see them as equals, different but each wonderful). I have never seen a better team on television in my life. I tend to be out in the early evenings and don't watch much TV but try to catch the cuts of their shows on the internet. They are just wonderful.
