The Republicans can no longer fuck us. But Blue dog Dems can |
|
Yeah, we won big in 2006 and 2008. We now have the White House, the House of Representatives and the Senate.
All we’re ignoring is that blue dog Democrats are still blocking every goal the Democratic Party is trying to achieve.
So what’s a “blue dog” Democrat? It’s a Dem from a Republican district who runs and wins by walking a tightrope against an unpopular Republican candidate, and who spits out a more subtle form of Republican bullshit than their unpopular opponent. It’s how they get elected. It’s how they hold onto their seats. It’s how they fuck the Democratic Party by making believe they believe in what the Democrats stand for.
But the truth is, blue dog Dems are nothing but conservative Republicans in all but name.
It’s why Obama can’t pass universal health care. It’s why there’s no investigation of Bush/Cheney war crimes. It’s why Republicans can go on TV spinning their lies. It’s why only a bare majority of Americans “get it.” It’s why so many Americans buy into the shit they’re fed on the Sunday Morning “news” shows. It’s why Dick Cheney can spew out his insanities and not be called on it. It’s why FCC rules have not been changed to balance out the broadcasting industry, and take power away from the corporations who own and control it.
Obama can't control them and it's why he has to give away so much that he and we believe in. He needs their votes on the "big issues."
Today’s Republican lunatic right wing fringe Party are the enemies of democracy. But let’s not forget our Blue Dog Dems. They are the ones who are currently the real enemy of progress.

3. They're not necessarily from a Republican district |
|
Amy Klobuchar is rumored to be flirting with the Blue Dogs and she totally destroyed her opponent in the 2006 Senate race. (I don't think he's been heard from since).
Blue Dogs, like Republicans, are sell outs who are more intersted in what the office they hold can do for them, not what it can do for their constiuents.

now Obama...No public option the insurance companies are spending billions, buying off politicians, TV spots lobbyist bullshit and it's changing public opinion as well as the spineless deocratic "leaders".
And the republicans are making their usual bullshit threats that if democrats pass a public option they will lose congress in 2010, such bullshit, passing a public option to avoid the high cost by the insurance companies, who won't insure the sick and only have profit as their motive not the well being of sick people.
Without no public option we are back where we started no national health care back in the hands of the insurance companies and their lobbyist to fuck us for even more profits & tax dollars and the republicans again are leading the way to destroy a public option again...We democrats have tried for so many years now the minority republicans are going to win again.

Target those states, mass education, help their people mobilize.
I don't think, with correct information, that the working people in those states think any differently than anywhere else. They just aren't getting the information and we aren't doing anything about it.

6. I call these Dems the "Walking Monkey Wrenches" in our |

progressive agenda.......you can never be sure how they're gonna vote. I'm talking about Landreiu, Bayh, Feinstein, Nelson, McCaskill (she's my senator, btw), and I'm sure there are many others that I can't recall at this moment.
The only good thing you can say about repukes is that right or wrong (and they're almost always wrong), they support repuke Presidents and don't allow them to twist in the wind!

8. IMO, there basically is NO difference between the blue dogs and the GOP. |
|
None of them have at their heart the basic interest of the masses.

11. It's why the two-party system is a failure |
|
With only two parties, intellectual and policy coherence in a broad enough sense to form an actual governing majority is nigh-well impossible.
Human thought is simply to diverse to be shoehorned into two buckets.

that Obama can't control the Blue Dog Democrats...He did/does have a mandate after this last election. All he would need to do is to have the DNC threaten to withold funding, not to campaign for some of these creeps - or more importantly to campaign FOR someone from the progressive democratic side who was running against them.
I would love for him to pull someone like Mary Landrieu into line...
But the DNC is still in the pocket of the DLC - just look at Harry Reid and that ilk... look at the Madfloridian's post about Bill Clinton honoring Al Fromm.
Sorry friends, other than when Howard Dean was the DNC Chairman, the DNC doesn't necessarily support progressives either. They will just support who pays for their lunch.
Where does that leave us? We have to quit our hero-worshiping and forget the history we were taught about American exceptionalism and take to the streets. Unless we want to continue to have elites running this country into the ground, we are going to have to demand the democracy that we deserve.

13. Conservadems must be brought in line and NOW! |
|
62% of the public wants a public option but Conservadems are against the public option? It's time for Public Option advocates to bird dog these conservative democrats who block real reform, take over thier offices with civil disobedience, do every manner of in district pressure, target the in district donors, and get other "centrist" but not conservative democrats to rebuke them publicly.
