EXCLUSIVE: Minn. lawmaker vows not to complete Census
Source: Washington Times

Outspoken Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann says she's so worried that information from next year's national census will be abused that she will refuse to fill out anything more than the number of people in her household.

In an interview Wednesday morning with The Washington Times "America's Morning News," Mrs. Bachmann, Minnesota Republican, said the questions have become "very intricate, very personal" and she also fears ACORN, the community organizing group that came under fire for its voter registration efforts last year, will be part of the Census Bureau's door-to-door information collection efforts.

Mrs. Bachmann said she's worried about the involvement of ACORN, the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now, in next year's census.

"They will be in charge of going door to door and collecting data from the American public," she said. "This is very concerning."

4. It's not likely
She represents the most gerrymandered district in the state. They'll keep sending her back as long as the TV preachers tell them to.

14. The problem is that she is not in my district. People like me who just
get sick to our stomachs when she talks do not have a chance to vote her out. I would hope that her district would wise up and quit shaming the rest of us.

21. There's a decent chance her district will disappear.
No other CD in in Minnesoate borders as many other Cds and there's a fair chance that we will lose a Congress Critter due to population growth in other states. If we lose a House seat, her's will be absorbed by the surroding disricts.

5. How Irresponsible Of Her & Her Touting The Fact That She Won't Cooperate With The Census......
will most certainly cause other people to not cooperate as well. From Census information most everything else flows. Having Census data that is incomplete or incorrect will cause problems. She needs to be talked to by someone. I don't mind if a Congressperson speaks their peace - but when it is irresponsible behavior like this - it must be stopped.

15. For voting purposes I think the number of people in the household
is adequate. What she may lose is funding for her district. I hope so.

11. She is inciting others to break a specific Constitutional directive...
which brings up several points, the most obvious being her oath tho uphold the Constitution.

It also makes me wonder why this clown would call herself a "Constitutionalist", when she defies it at everypoint she feels she can. I have to wonder how the Founders would feel about that.

She has mentioned that the Founderrs never mentioned abortion, therefore it should be written out of the SCoTUS rulings. But a census every 10 years is expressly required in the original document, so that Representatives can be apportioned by state population. She owes her job to the Census, (and some pretty wild voters)...:eyes:

Federal funds are apportioned by population as well...maybe she didn't think of that.

Bachmann is a jerk, and every time she opens her mouth, she becomes a bigger jerk.

13. Oh, she's breaking an actual statute
I work at the Census Bureau, some surveys, including the decennical census, REQUIRE your response or face a 5000 dollar fine. It is rarely enforced, but I'd be willing to bet they will in her case. Nutjob needs to re-read 13 USC.

it is one of the few bureaus that actually sticks to it's mandate to keep records private and secure.

23. The FBI tried to get records back in 1980 or so
Had a federal warrant and everything. Census Bureau told them to get lost, and it was upheld.

The Secret Service tried to get them for Presidetn Truman back in 1950. Same result.

17. Um... her party passed the Patriot Act...
...and NOW she's worried about privacy???

I read the US Code relevent to the data collected by the Census Bureau. This information is absolutely immune from any kind of judicial, congressional, or executive subpeona, and the CB absolutely forbidden to share this information with anybody outside the CB. Period.
