NYT: In Poll, Wide Support for Government-Run Health
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/21/health/policy/21poll.html?_r=1&hp
This is Big News. The majority of Americans, including a majority of Republicans!! support a Public Option!

The only place without a majority support seems to be in Congress and the White House.

There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for not having a Public Plan for Health Care.

To not embrace a Public Plan is a failure of the Democratic Party!

3. When even the majority of Republicans think the cost of health insurance is too high, there's hope.
Without the public plan option or single payer there is no meaningful reform.

4. I'm surprised at
the lack of responses to this post.
Considering the precarious state the Public Option is in just now.

8. Just think how much higher the support would be if
more people actually understood what Single Payer was!! It's amazing that there's this much support when the majority of our politicians..including our president and the media refuse to discuss Single Payer in a rational, informed, educational way. Instead, most everything that comes out about Single Payer is laced with "Socialist" - "government-run", "rationing", etc.

11. my bottom line: the private sector has fucked this one up. how much worse could the government be?
note for the ideologically extreme: if a government-based program doesn't work, it can be scrapped.
no, not government programs are not something, once enacted, that we're stuck with for eternity. government programs get defunded all the time.

12. Poll demonstrates CLEARLY who Congress works for
72% clearly want a public option. There is no excuse whatsoever for passing something that has such broad support among the populace.

If we don't get a public option then it is clear we have no hope for the future of this country until we can limit corporate $$$ and influence of government.

14. 50% of REPUBLICANS favor a public option
Remember when Bush said he had "a mandate" with 50.1% of the votes?

16. 50 to 39% -- That;'s a huge spread
The average person is starting to figure out that the current system works great for all the parties that can pass through costs and slap their margin on top. That's the insurance companies, the pharmas, the hospitals, and the docs themselves.

If you aren't one of those 4, you are screwed.

There are a lot of Blue Dog noses I'd like to rub in this one.

I think the bastards are terrified they're going to lose their own socialized health care.
