Washington Times Journalist Arrested in Iran
Source: Reuters

TEHRAN (Reuters) - A Washington Times journalist covering Iran's disputed election has been arrested on charges of "illegal activities," a friend told Reuters Tuesday.

The friend said the journalist, a Greek national, was arrested three days ago in Tehran and that his embassy had been informed.

2. I Have Mixed Feelings...
No one should ever equate the Moonie Times and Journalism in the same breath. But the story says the guy is a Greek national...probably stringing rather than opining. Watching the Daily Show last night and seeing the three reformers who are now in custody sent a chill through my spine and the same applies here. All politics aside, those trying to cover this story on the ground are taking big risks.

4. W. Times will probably whip up froth among neo-cons to get
Obama admin to intervene to get this guy freed. Not what we need at this time.

5. I Doubt Moon Has That Much Influence...
Had this been McCain or boooshie, then I'd agree with you.

President Obama has played this very well and I don't see him making a foolish mistake by getting in the middle here. The reporter is a Greek national...if any country has the obligation to bargain for his release it's that one.

Sadly, he is just one of many that have disapeared in the last week in that country. My hopes are it adds to shining a light on releasing all the political prisoners and reporters.
