Our Insurance system is broken.

4. It's important. The repugs are spinning this as an attack on our Health Care System.
It's not. We are attacking the insurance system.

It needs to be framed that way.

3. I'd say "health care system" includes insurance as part of the system
And there are other pieces of the system that could use some attention also.

7. But, making the distinction is a way of saying that insurance has no place in healthcare. n/t

6. I agree, but it would be un-realistic to think that a broken Insurance System does NOT affect decisi
ons made on the medical side, even amongst the most ethical care givers.

..............................

Also, I HAVE heard anecdotal talk amongst entry level care givers, in my family, about their own concerns for those amongst them who are there to "marry well" or get into a field that has job security and the possibility of significant wealth.

....................................

What we have is a dog-eat-dog broken culture.

9. If the broken Insurance system doesn't affect decision makers directly, it DOES in-directly. nt

8. actually, it IS broken.
the costs have skyrocketed. that makes it pretty broken for most people who cannot afford it. there are many reasons for this, not the least of which is the part private insurance companies play. when you figure in that hospitals raise your costs to cover the uninsured and many hospitals and docs order unnecessary tests (to pay for the diagnostic equipment?), you get a pretty broken system.

10. I agree with that. But we need to frame it as fixing the Insurance System.
Doing that will repair the problems you brought up.

I have listened to talk radio for a few weeks now and am tired of hearing that we have the best Health Care System in the world and the Dems are out to destroy that.

It's just not true.

We want to destroy the insurance system.
