Only a sick bastard would deny health care to Americans while THEY live like kings
Edited on Wed Jun-24-09 09:04 AM by Philosoraptor
There, I said it, and I'm glad. How greedy and selfish does a politician have to be to deny us what they take for granted, affordable health care for their families? WE PAY for their exorbitant life styles, yet they deny us health care? I'm sorry, that's just sick, sick, sick.

4. Most jobs at the same pay level have equal or greater medical benefits.
Congressmen and Senators do NOT get anything special.

9. You're also paying for mine...and all other federal employees'.
...and you're not doing it charitably, you're doing it because my employer has a contractual obligation to provide those benefits.

You also pay for a UPS employee's benefits every time you mail a package....it's the same thing.

12. Not the same, unless you would act to deny me the same benefit.
If that was the case then yes, it would be the same, but just for you personally.
The other govt employees I know recognize the benefits of single payer for citizens, not just for the citizens themselves but also for the economy.
But this discussion is about the medical benefits of Congress, not those of government employees in general. That is, unless government employees organize to lobby against single payer for the general population.
If that were the case we could broaden the criticism.

2. The secretaries at every Federal building in the country get the same health insurance
Are they living like Kings and Queens?

Ignorant populism must end.

3. What's your point?
Edited on Wed Jun-24-09 09:33 AM by Jakes Progress
The OP said those who deny health care. The secretaries don't take the insurance/phama money and then vote to keep us out of coverage. That would be their evil bastard bosses.

If you use public money to give yourself the world's best health care and then vote or connive to avoid giving the same to those who put you in office, you are an evil bastard.

Ignorant nit-picking must end.

13. They're the same sick bastards who;
-Refuse to raise the minimum wage--for decades.
-Constantly cut funding to critical social services.
-Want to privatize Social Security, constantly increase the minimum retirement age, etc.
-Constantly cut funding to public schools.
Etc, etc--all the while living high off the hog on our tax dollars. They get fat salaries, fabulous health care, excellent benefits, tons of perks and an amazing retirement plan (no piddly SS for them). Why do they need to give a damn about the "little guys" they're ostensibly elected to serve?
