Church creates stir with gay exorcism video
http://www3.signonsandiego.com/stories/2009/jun/24/us-gay-exorcism-video-062409/

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The video shows the 16-year-old boy lying on the floor, his body convulsing, as elders of a small Connecticut church cast a "homosexual demon" from his body.

"Rip it from his throat!" a woman yells. "Come on, you homosexual demon! You homosexual spirit, we call you out right now! Loose your grip, Lucifer!"

The 20-minute video posted on YouTube by Manifested Glory Ministries is being called abuse by gay and youth advocates, who are demanding an investigation. But a church official this week denied that the teenager was injured or that the church is prejudiced.

"We believe a man should be with a woman and a woman should be with a man," the Rev. Patricia McKinney told The Associated Press. "We have nothing against homosexuals. I just don't agree with their lifestyle."

Wow - just wow.

11. I was just thinking about that. The late Terrance Cottrell Jr. had autism.
Dumb-ass, piss-ant fundies thought he was possessed of the debbil. :eyes: So a big, husky deacon sat on him and tried to "exorcise" the "demon".

Well, Terrance no longer has autism. He's dead. And the Demon Deacon only got a slap on the wrist for "child endangerment" or some such. :grr: :banghead: :argh: :nuke:

And yet again, as with the anti-bullying bill in NC yesterday,

the links between the LGBT and autism/disability communites are made manifest.

5. Holy kamoly. In CT no less.
I wouldn't be surprised to see something like this happening in some of the crackpot so-called churches we have down here, but that's a long way out of the Bible belt.

9. Wow, that is definitely abuse.
Both physically and emotionally. I would puke, too if there were "grown-ups" tapping me on the forehead and yelling in my hear.

These people should be under investigation NOW...

12. There's that word again
Whenever you see "lifestyle" in this context, you know bigotry is afoot.

This is frightening. That poor child!

13. Those are sick sick people
I can stand the thought of what lasting effects that will have on that boy.

They can try and hide behind their religion but they are using their religion to justify abuse and hatred.

14. That's beyond sick
I fear for my nieces and nephew as I fear my sister would be as nutty if one of them is homosexual. When they come and visit I always try to stress that my door is always open for them and they can call me anytime they want to.
