Remember: It's not about "marital infidelity;" It's about "dereliction of duty!" Sanford was AWOL! |
|
Just like Bush, Sanford was AWOL. And he's the Commander in Chief of South Carolina's Nation Guard.
So his office lied about his whereabouts. But what if SC was faced with a state crisis: a disaster or emergency that required immediate action from the governor? Where was he? He was AWOL!!!
That should be the focus of these news stories, not "marital infidelity" (although the GOP and CorpMedia are portraying it as such). I don't get a rat's ass if the governor is boinking some floozy, but if I were a resident of SC, I sure as hell would be concerned if the governor wasn't at his post when he should have been! :grr:
A public confession and "apology" for his affair does not clear him of his dereliction of duty. He is both incompetent and irresponsible and should resign, or be relieved of command, immediately!!!

3. Exactly what the Lieutenant Governor said in his press conference. |

The problem here is that Sanford was irresponsible and impulsive; leaving his position as governor without letting anyone know how to get ahold of him. He didn't THINK about what might happen if there had been a state crisis. He didn't THINK at all. Even worse, he lied to his own staff about his location and probably used state funds for travel.
That's what people should be angry about - the people of South Carolina should demand his resignation.
