1. They are being hacked up with axes and hatchets...
My gods, is there no end to man's inhumanity to man?

2. Actually does not shock me
to be crass, one way to save ammunition...

But this is one of the things going on... and people should be aware of it.

5. That's what I thought when I heard about the hatchets...
this morning. It reminded me of Rwanda and the mass quantities of machetes purchased for a $1 each from China used in the wholesale slaughter there.

6. Yeah but remember this did not start today
even the photo attribution is not for today

But some, in fact many, of the basiji are not even trained in fire arms, but anybody can wield an axe more or less competently

7. I thought they had a real racket going on, charging the ...
families of the slain protesters $3,000. for the bullet that killed their loved one. I wouldn't think there would be any shortage of bullets in Iran. Maybe they don't want another Neda hit by a stray bullet and capturing the world's attention. Axe murder would certainly put an end to that. Who knows.

9. Even if you have a racket, the axe is also far more of a terror weapon

3. I saw this picture on the Facebook page of an Iranian blogger DAYS ago.. so this did not happen
today. I don't deny that it happened as part of the protest, but this is not associated w/today's news of axes. Perhaps the axes came out days ago.

4. Didn't say that, the attribution was for three or four days ago
But it is a photo we have of this going on

And if it started days ago, you think it has stopped?

8. Gotcha.. and my point too, if they were doing this 3-4 days ago, when the world was watching
and images were still being leaked out en masse.. WTF are they doing NOW? As you said.

10. Well unconfirmed throwing people from bridges
the tweeter is amazing though and this is probably the first war on somebody else's soil openly involving geeks around the world

Neda was seriously the mistake...

Right now they are confiscating the tech. Apparently there are too many Iranians living in Iran right now, like more than physically in the country.

11. Did you see the spot on Rachel tonight where Reza, I think, was talking about the cybergeeks
taking over Iranian Revolutionary Guard servers and govt servers, erasing names of the Iranian protestors?

Very wonderful that there is something someone can do to try to help.
