Most evil headline ever: Did President Obama Make His Case on Health Care? (ABC News)
i.e. "No, he didn't. Our health care system is fine and dandy. Runs GREAT. The greatest in the world."

Did President Obama Make His Case on Health Care?
By JAKE TAPPER and KAREN TRAVERS
June 25, 2009

President Obama made a push Wednesday for evidence-based medicine and a reduction in health care costs in the United States, but skeptics and many Republicans remain unconvinced his plans will work.

blah blah

4. Ummmm......
As far as I'm concerned, he didn't make a case for his health care reform plan.

We need single payer. Anything else is a sell out to corporate Amerikka. And Obama supported single payer before it was not in his interest to do so:

His healthcare plan does not serve to protect or advance my needs and interests with respect to healthcare. But it sure as hell serves his desire for position and the personal power and prosperity it brings. That is the only explanation I need for why Obama no longer supports single payer.

With respect to healthcare, this president is just another corporate huckster.

8. What kind of fucking bullshit is THAT?
"his desire for position and the personal power and prosperity it brings"

Even IF such was his goal, how the FUCK would his healthcare plan do that?

I, too, want single payer, but that's not going anywhere in congress - the best we can get is a strong public option which, in time, morphs INTO single payer. And it is NOT Obama who is fighting the public option, FYI.

Your statement is nothing but bullshit calumny. If we were face to face I WOULD knock the chip off your shoulder.

10. It didn't serve his political ambitions
to support single payer. Meanwhile, being friendly and receptive toward protecting and serving corporate interests will certainly get a candidate a good reception and a fair amount of corporate dollars to use in a campaign. So far as I can tell Obama abandoned his support of single payer when it served his political ambitions. The corporations are more important than flesh and blood citizens. As was his personal ambition.

If you get to be President then you typically take the personal power that comes with the position and the lucrative speaking and publishing opportunities that follow when you leave office.

I do not think it is the least bit unreasonable to judge Obama's motives based on the financial incentives he had to abandon his support of single payer.

Healthcare is my line in the sand. I'm going to have a very difficult time voting for any candidate to retain office who has not or does not support single payer. Consequences be damned. And I think a public option is nothing but a sell out con job.

IMHO, one of the reasons that single payer is not being seriously considered is because the people who live in this country are not demanding it. They are willing to accept less. They want to think a public option makes viable insurance options available to the uninsured and underinsured. It will make them feel better. Nevermind that a public option doesn't really offer much of anything to many of the uninsured/underinsured. There certainly isn't any guarantee that it will be the least bit affordable. And nevermind that the Massachusetts plan hasn't exactly been a stellar model of success. If you can barely afford a health plan with a $10,000 deductible and a 20% co-pay beyond that then it certainly isn't an improvement to have the option to pay still more for a public plan - even if the coverage is better.

You don't have to agree. If my opinion offends you then you just as well add me to your ignore list right now.

6. ABC is playing its own devil's advocate
They refused opposition advertisement, now they have to counter the griping about objectivity.

7. They always put the opposition opinion right after they report what the
President has done - notice here they even managed to fit it into the same sentence.

I just called my Senator's office thanks to being a member of Move-on - they email you your own Senator's number and alert you to the issue. For this they deserve to be considered one of the greatest organizations ever. Everyone join so you can conveniently call these DINOs to tell them what you think. This email was about the public option. So my Senator already knows I support that.

9. The question is slanted, of course, to suggest otherwise..hence, planting seeds in public mind
To be honest, I don't expect any significant changes forthcoming as elements within corporate America clearly favor profits over people...but it still irks me when the "news" in this country leads people's views so blatantly.
