NEW IDEA: Showcase Indys and R's who WANT the Public Option on healthcare. Use THEM in ads. etc.

I have read on this board that organizations like MoveOn are targeting certain Senate Dems on a healthcare public option. OK, fine. BUT, with 50% of registered R's and a large majority of Indys saying they ALSO want a public option, what organization is out there rounding up some of these centrist and "conservative" citizens to get them organized and showcase THEM in ads, on the web,and to get THEM in an organized way to call centrist Dems and even R's in the Senate to push for a public option? They should be running ads with people saying, "I am a registered Republican, and I support a public option." When they call or write to these Senators, they should identify themselves as Idys or R's. They would be easy to find. There are plenty of registered I's and R's out there who have been royally screwed by the health insurance industry. Thre are plenty who are in bankruptcy because of our SHITTY healthcare system. These Senators need to hear from more than just MoveOn, organized labor, and progressives. They need to hear from the ENTIRE 70+% of Americans that want the public option. This would be VERY effective. IF THERE EVER WAS AN ISSUE THAT TRANSCENDS PARTY LINES, THIS IS IT. USE IT !!

The message that these centrist Senate Dems need to hear over and over and over again is 72% ! 72% ! 72% ! of ALL Americans want a public option, including 50% of registered Republicans and a large majority of Independents. CENTRISTS and EVEN REGISTERED REPUBLICANS need to be out there making their voices heard, not just MoveOn, etc. These organizations need to be showcasing these facts and showcasing individuals from the center and right of the political spectrum who support a public option. Howard Dean said it best: "What part of 72% don't you understand?"
