HuffPo writer confronts WaPo critic: 'That's pathetic'
@ 12:19 pm by Eric Zimmermann

Huffington Post reporter Nico Pitney blasted the Washington Post's Dana Milbank today for suggesting Pitney's question to President Obama at last week's press conference was planted.

Milbank responded that Pitney was "in collusion" with the Obama White House.

First, some background.

When President Obama called on Pitney last week, establishment journalists wondered whether the question was staged. Obama seemed to know that Pitney was going to ask a question directly from an Iranian.

In a column published just after press conference, Milbank suggested the questioned was planted, and called the stunt "prepackaged entertainment."

Arianna Huffington accused Milbank of getting his facts wrong, emphasizing that Obama had no idea what Pitney would actually ask, only that the question would come from an Iranian.

Today, Pitney confronted Milbank directly when the two appeared on CNN's Reliable Sources.

Fireworks ensued.

Pitney pointed out that Milbank is hardly one to complain about softball questions. Milbank, Pitney said, had once asked Obama repeated questions about how he looked in a bathing suit.

"This is a person, Dana, who when he had a change to ask Obama a quesiton, he approached him in the hall during the campaign and asked Obama not one, but multiple questions about how he looked in a bathing suit," Pitney said. "I mean that, to me, is pathetic."

Milbank responded: "What I have enver done in my life is worked in collusion with an administration."

Things got so heated that host Howie Kurtz felt the need to step in and cool things off.

"You two are going to need to take this outside," Kurtz quipped.

2. I was so relieved
when Milbank stopped appearing on "Countdown." His Skull-and-Bones affiliation always made me suspicious, and, yes, he is a supercilious POS, I agree................................

3. What DID Milbank think Pitney would ask about? How Obama looked in a swimsuit?

Who's been covering the events in Iran, incessantly? Not Milbank.

I mean, really. One doesn't expect Helen Thomas to ask Obama what's his favorite thing for dinner, either. Some people have substance, and an interest and background in specific issues, and some people whine at those who have substance. Milbank is quite obviously in the latter grouping.

4. K&R #1 for, Let's take back GD, for GD topics like this INSTEAD of celebrity deaths!1
Niko was great, in MILBANK's face!1 But he let MILBANK get away with saying that the WH had collaborated on the QUESTION. The only "collaboration" was that it would be a question FROM AN IRANIAN.

to accusing the White House of collusion with a reporter?

I know enough about how milbank corporatemediawhore works from reading what he has to say on DU for the last 7 years.

I hope Pitney got to answer him right back that there was no "collusion"!

I could have sworn milbank and the wapo are in collusion with the fucking gopcorporateshits.
