I was using google chrome because explorer 7 had some memory consumption issues. It gets really slow after a while, and you have to restart it. The thing is google chrome also as similar problems although less. I also don't like in chrome that when you click on tab it may snap off if you accidentally drag it just a bit. But Explorer 8 seems very robust and I don't need chrome anymore.

17. werd! Firefox all the way... |
|
I downloaded google chrome but haven't got into using it as my primary browser. I pretty much just use IE, chrome and opera for making sure my websites render correctly across browsers, but that's it... IE8 still screws somethings up that SHOULD work though.. WTF?

22. why I love firefox: the extensions. |

I rely on Flashblocker and Firebug. For a while I used Zotero but I think I pushed it too far.

4. Lots of things ie8 still doesn't do. |
|
It has a ways to catch up with the other browsers. It doesn't rock if you are a web developer, but lets say it is an improvement over ie7 and the nightmare ie6. There are some really good things most other browsers do (like canvas support, or compiling the javascript). These are ushering in the new cloud computing paradigm.

7. Why worry about snapping off a tab in chrome? |
|
You can just drag it back to the other tabs and it'll snap back in. I have nothing against IE8 (I use it for a few work websites that are only IE compliant) but I don't see any particular advantage in it. I do not have speed or reliability problems with chrome. Now and again I do have stability issues, but only because I run the developer builds for testing purposes. So sometimes I'll encounter a problem in a new build that gets updated away the following day.

15. Just click on it in the new window and drag it back |
|
It'll snap back in among the other tabs in whatever Chrome Window you drag it to. No need to press a key. I'm using 3.0.190.4, the developer track.

9. My only beef with Chrome is that it has no flashblocker which its only as stable as Adobe Flash 10. |
|
Which is not so stable. It's sad, really, because I was REALLY reluctant to move over from Firefox. Firefox is nice but it's not that stable, even with Flashblocker. It took a bit of experimenting with Chrome but I came to really like it. I'm done with Internet Explorer, though. I'm glad you get good use out of it. For me, it represents the overloading of bells and whistles, to the point of self-collapse, which many Microsoft Products have suffered greatly from.
Which sucks because by now IE should be the Ferarri, not the Toyota Hatchback, of browsers.

10. Leave it to Microsoft ... |
|
The company that fights open source software in every conceivable form "borrows" liberally from Firefox and Opera, convincing people it's all new and shiny and wonderful and *theirs*.

Really though, MS should continue doing things their own way so that we can continue to complain about microsoft not following standards.

Not quite as fast as chrome but much faster than Explorer 8 and a zillion times more stable
When chrome comes out of Beta it will hands down be the best.

So I'll take your endorsement seriously.
Are there others who can chime in, too? I am a bit skittish about moving up.

21. IE7 will not remember toolbar preferences... |
|
...I made the mistake of installing multiple toolbars in IE.
...which resulted in about four INCHES of screen space. I re-organize them, I lock the toolbars, I open a new window, and there is the four inches of toolbars again.
In no way, shape or form does Microsoft "rock," unless the definition of "rock" is "SUCK"...
...THEN, they ROCK. Rock like a MUTHA.

...unless you design Web Sites for a living...and my guess is that you do not...many people who use IE as their primary browser have not upgraded to version 8.
Microsoft is NOTORIOUS for pissing in the face of every leap forward in Web Design, especially CSS.
Why?
Because they wanted it ALL.
So no, they do not "rock"...today, yesterday, or next week. If they fall in line with what every professional Web Developer has been ATTEMPTING to do for the last five years, they BREAK EVEN.
They do not "ROCK."
Microsoft has a LONG, LONG way to go before they "ROCK."
Peace, OUT.
