Ok, DU'ers, pick apart this piece of shit I got forwarded this morning.
Divorce agreement, written by a law student and American:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists,
Marxists and Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course.

Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right so let’s just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass, each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

We don't like redistributive taxes, so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell. (You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them).

We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO's and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood.

You can make nice with Iran and Palestine, and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security.

We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N., but we will no longer be paying the bill.

We'll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find. You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right.

We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute Imagine, I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya, or We Are the World.

We'll practice trickle-down economics, and you can give trickle-up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like-minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you ANWAR which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

Sincerely,

John J. Wall
Law Student and an American

P.S. Also, please take Barbara Streisand & Jane Fonda with you

1. Just find a map of the "giver states" and "taker states"
and ask said individual if they want to live in a country formulated only from the states that currently rely on the federal government for a significant portion of their operating costs.

2. Not this again...
First off...chances are this was not written by a "Law Student"...no one under 40 gives a flying fuck about Babs Streisand and Jane Fonda.

"The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem" were both written by liberals.

That and in the title it addressess "Marxists". "Marxism" isn't a form of government...it's a tool of polticial analysis. You don't even have to agree with Socialistic/Communistic tenants to use it.

The whole thing is one chest puffing piece of garbage that I will guess was really written by a 60 year old know-nothing dittohead.

It wasn't the "Triumph of Capitalism", "The Failure of Socialism", or great Saint Reagan politicizing the moment.

What killed the USSR was the USSR. It was run by a single party system that could not adapt to change and relied on nationalistic propaganda to affirm support and deny the need for any change.

If they were capable of critical thinking and drawing connections it would kill them.

They also don't seem to get that you can't run a nation successfully on little to no taxation. "WHUT?? Yew mean I hafta PAY fer this park I useta go to fer FREE? I haveta PAY t'get bewks outta th' lahbrarah now? Whut th' hell's this pay-drinkin' fountain shit?"

It's just a rambling poorly informed opinion about what they want and just how "right" they are.

Funny even in the case of "trickle down economics" which apparently is THE ONLY WAY TO RUN THINGS if you don't want a "Welfare State"...it doesn't work. We'd be swimming in jobs otherwise.

19. On occasion, Snopes will debunk a "universal" e-mail with a particular message.
In this case, there is no such person, or that person is not in law school, or never was a democrat.

OK, it's debunking via ad hominum versus the meat of the matter, but it would show it's a divide-and-conquer approach used by stealth conversatives or neocons.

it just highlights the "us or them" nature of a lot of conservative thought. No room for gray areas or compromise or complexity. You're either with us or against us.

This "joke" takes the essence of liberalism- tolerance and progress- and tries to make it distasteful. I think that's the only way it could be construed as funny. But in the process, this joke portrays conservatives as greedy, intolerant, belligerent, selfish, arrogant, and... stupid.

I mean, what is the deal with ANWR? Do they want to nationalize it? Who do they think actually owns that oil?

What on earth does he mean, 'since the late 1950s'? Surely, since the end of the Civil War, 1865?

It's a bit rich that he wants his side to have the Battle Hymn of the Republic. Wasn't that originally created as a song of the Liberal Side against the Right-Wing Side during the last divorce, over slavery?

Or is he referring to the McCarthy Era, as the greatest period of history?

You ain't getting half, and you ain't getting a vote in the process.

Lots of empty space in Wyoming. We could give you the whole state. We'll find some other empty spaces you can have, but you can start by moving to Wyoming. Now.

Edited on Tue Jun-30-09 10:27 AM by Just Saying
http://hepzibahpyncheon.blogspot.com/2009/02/divorce-proposal.html

Dear John:

Thanks for your letter suggesting you conservatives and we lefties divorce and divide up the country. Let me take up your points (reproduced here in italics) one at a time:

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement.

OK. We’ll take the East and West Coasts, the university towns, like Madison and Austin, Chicago, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico – actually, come to think of it, no, you can’t have any part of my beautiful country. Let’s move on to the next point.

After that it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes. We don't like re distributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.

Now you’re talking. You can have the portion of the country where people like yourself pay a third of your income while the fat cats pay less than 10%. Without your complicity, this wouldn’t work. Have at it. As for the ACLU, yes, we’ll take them. They are the folks pushing for an open trial for Omar Khadr, who was captured at 15 or 16, brought to Guantanamo and tortured, and has been there these past seven years slowly going mad, without ever being able to have access to a lawyer or his family. Yes, by all means give us the ACLU.

37. The email shows basic ignorance
The writer is confused by what conservatives and liberals actually believe. Based on that it's hard to respond logically. Do liberals hate guns universally? Apparently not if you ever read a gun post here at DU. Many liberals belong to the NRA. Are cops conservative? Most are hard working Union members. Does that fit in with liberal America or conservative America? Do liberals hate the military? Apparently not since they voted for Obama last election. How would the poster keep the pharmaceutical companies? Does he know they exist due to huge government spending on research. Is that a conservative principal? Do liberals not have Judeo-Christian values? No. Do all conservatives have Judeo-Christian values? No. One could go on and on. Basically the letter is baseless because it fails at the basics of understanding of the two parties and what they support and believe in.

Tornado alley...yeah...and when their homes are destroyed and they're looking for help, they can help themselves. Same with whatever landmasses they choose that might be in the way of annual hurricanes. Too much water there...oops.

If there's ever another "Dust Bowl" out in the midwest, to hell with them. Lizards and cactus and the minerals from boiled rocks make a mighty fine stew, I'm told.

So they've got all these natural disaster scenarios to work with, and add to it their idiotic presumptions that they have to populate each and every square foot of available space with more humans.

Yeah...I'm scared....

Edited on Tue Jun-30-09 01:18 PM by Individualist
Mat 25:34
Then the King will say to those at his right hand, 'Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;

Mat 25:35
for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,

Mat 25:36
I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.'

Mat 25:37
Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink?

Mat 25:38
And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee?

and...

"Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth."

"Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy."

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."

"Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account."

Mat 25:39
And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?'

Mat 25:40
And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.'

Mat 25:41
Then he will say to those at his left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels;

Mat 25:42
for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink,

Mat 25:43
I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.'

Mat 25:44
Then they also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see thee hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to thee?'

Mat 25:45
Then he will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.'

Mat 25:46
And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

55. excellent
I love the matthew25.org group. They're trying to beat down the right's grasp on Christianity with these verses the right tends to ignore in their bibles.

53. Well, at least Hugh Moran, Esq. is honest about his intentions
"...We'll keep the ..... greedy corporations....we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us....We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right.... "

If that's what that dumbass believes, I'd love to see how far his country lasts.

54. Ooooh! Fat jokes!
(You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them).

How very mature. :sarcasm: Does this "John J. Wall" (if that is his real name) listen to Rush Limbaugh, by any chance? Or admire the judicial philosophy* of Antonin Scalia? :eyes:

56. I'll try it. I don't know if I can do it justice, though
Dear Mr. Wall:

It's funny that you should ask for a divorce from we liberals. For the last 59 years we've been picking up the empty beer cans you throw out your car windows, bailing you out of jail and feeding all your drunk loser buddies. You want a divorce from us? Fine.

We'll just divide the country by political ideology. We'll take California, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan and Pennsylvania. We'll leave you Wyoming, Alaska, Oklahoma and Texas. We know you hate redistributive taxation so you probably despise the fact that the states we are giving you are four of the biggest recipients of federal largesse in the whole country. You can have Florida too, just as long as we can have Wisconsin. It might be a little rough on you when your supplies of pickups, guns, beer and Harleys dry up, but you're rugged individualists, right?

We'll make sure to leave you guys lots of wheelbarrows too. When you throw all the illegal immigrants out of "your" country roofs, lettuce and lawn mowing services are going to get really expensive, so you'll need wheelbarrows to haul all the extra cash you're going to need around.

I'm a little confused about a couple of your requests, though. You want Walmart and Judeo-Christian values? I can't really imagine that Jesus would want to shop in the store that's most responsible for sending American jobs to China. But you want 'em, you cah have 'em.

Tell ya what. You guys can keep The Star-Spangled Banner and we'll take America the Beautiful. Your song commemorates a one-night battle against a military that's now our finest ally, and it's almost completely unsingable.

You can keep those trickle-down economics. That's fine with us because all the states that have any money are coming with us. You'll notice the trickling down from your economics is yellow and smells like ammonia. Well, there's a reason for that.

Oh, and we're taking all the birth control with us. It's against your Judeo-Christian values. This might be a little rough on you because your wives say they won't have sex with you unless they have some way to avoid bearing any more of your idiotic, hyperactive brats. We recommend stocking up on porn and vaseline.

We also know you believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right, but you have the right to know that green pus dripping out of your dick isn't really normal. You may want to take the luxury of having that looked at.

You know all those Muslim countries you hate? Ones like Iran? Wanna know why you hate them so badly? In very large part it's because they decided to eliminate the separation of church and state just like you guys are going to do in your own country. Well, that's what we liberals are trying to prevent.

By the way, you know that hot Alaska hockey mom isn't actually from Alaska, right? I think Alaska's the only state in the nation who ever sent anyone named Stuart to the Miss America pageant. (This is no shit. They really did.)

So is it agreed? We'll take everything about America that makes it great--the tolerance for opposing viewpoints, the richest areas and the places that make the cool cars--and we'll give you Tulsa.

57. Well, judging from the experience of the last eight years...

I do think we know who will be needing help in the next 10 years if this "agreement" goes through. The right wing idiots will have run their little "country" into the ground and Mr John J "Off the Wall" will be there with the rest of them on their knees and begging to be let into our part of the country. And then we can kick them out and deport them to one of the islands in the Pacific where global warming/climate change is having the most impact -hey, since they don't believe in global warming it won't be a problem will it? -and we can replace them with all the inhabitants of the islands where the people are endangered because of the consequences of global warming/climate change. Perhaps then, Mr "John J Wall" may have to face some "inconvient truths" of his own

position

59. Cheap imitation. I got this email after the 2004 elections
Dear Red States,

We've decided we're leaving. We intend to form our own country, and we're taking the other Blue States with us. In case you aren't aware, that includes Hawaii , California , Oregon , Washington, Minnesota , Wisconsin , Michigan , Illinois , New York , and all of the Northeastern states. After this election, we'll be adding Colorado and New Mexico .

We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation, especially to the people of our new country - Nuevo California. To sum up briefly: You get Texas , Oklahoma and all the slave states; we get stem cell research, the best beaches, and the best ski resorts. We get the Statue of Liberty; you get Dollywood. We get Intel and Microsoft; you get WorldCom. We get Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, Yale , Cal Tech, MIT and Columbia ; you get Ole' Miss. We get 85 percent of America 's venture capital and entrepreneurs; you get Alabama . We get two-thirds of the tax revenue; you get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than that of the Christian Coalition, we get a bunch of happy families and you get a bunch of under-educated single moms.

Please be aware that Nuevo California will be pro-choice and anti-war, and we'll need all of our citizens back from Iraq at once.

If you need people to fight, ask your evangelicals. They apparently have kids they're willing to send to their deaths for no purpose, and they don't mind if you don't televise their kid's caskets coming home. We do wish you success in Iraq and hope that those Weapons of Mass Destruction turn up for you, but we're not willing to spend any more of our money in Bush's Quagmire.

With the Blue States, we will control 80 percent of the country's fresh water, 90 percent of pineapple and lettuce, 92 percent of the nation's fresh fruit, 97 percent of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at your state dinners), 90 percent of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the U.S. low-sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, and all the Ivy League and Seven Sister schools. We also get New England, the Great Lakes and Yosemite , thank you very much.

n the Red States, you will have to cope with 88 percent of all obese Americans and their projected health care costs, 92 percent of all U.S. mosquitoes, 90 percent of tornadoes, 94 percent of hurricanes, 99 percent of Southern Baptists, virtually 100 percent of all televangelists, as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bob Jones University , and Clemson.

Additionally, in the Red States, 38 percent actually believe Jonah was swallowed by a whale; 62 percent believe life is sacred unless it involves the death penalty or gun ownership; 44 percent claim that evolution is only a theory; 53 percent insist that Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11; and 61 percent of you crazy bastards believe you have higher moral standards than those of us on the left.

By the way, we're taking all the good pot, too. You get that dirt weed from Mexico and Kansas ditches.

Peace out,
The Blue States
