Rebuilding America.
This past week we travelled out of state for brief vacation. As we drove through IA, IL, & WI, I noted that there is a significant amount of road construction going on. Not the usual pothole fills that we tend to see when travelling in the summer months or the rows of orange cones with no workers in sight either. Full work crews and significant work underway. Bridges closed for inspections and repair and long detours. Hubby grumbled but I reminded him that he would be grumbling about bad roads. I'm seeing the stimulus money at work. Investments in our infrastructure underway. Happy to see it since some of these rural areas have been passed over time and time again for glitzy new roads to new subdivisions.

I'm happily sitting in traffic now watching my tax dollars at work.

1. Nothing going on here in KY.
I heard on the radio a few days ago that our GOV was going to use the stim to help balance the budget.

5. I hope you are right
I just know what I heard on the radio. The only road work I have seen this year is minor patchwork. There are two large road constuction co`s where I live as of right now they are not hiring and are actually cutting back hours and laying off operators and truck drivers. This time of year normally they can`t hire enough people.Fact is I have two dump truck that have not been out of the driveway since January 31,09.

2. Went from Iowa to Indy on I74 two weeks ago,
always been a crappy road. Now much in Illinois is under construction. With those big 'stimulus' signs. Good deal.

Although I did see a load of new Ford pick-ups today, can`t remember the last time I saw a load of Chrysler or GM.The local Toyota dealer is mostly just buying off lease cars from auctions.
