Letter from Harry....His concerns are... well, all about him! |
|
Friends,
I've said it before: the Republicans have made me their top target.
Last week, Sen. John Cornyn, chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, promised they'd field an opponent against me in the "coming weeks." Mark my words: their handpicked candidate will be supported by shadowy third party groups playing the same old dirty political tricks you and I despise. Some of them have already started.
They're also coming after the agenda you and I voted for in 2008 - an agenda of change. They lined up against our economic recovery bill to put people back to work and now they're digging in for a fight against affordable health care. They've proven they're willing to say "no" time and again.
I'm ready for a fight on both fronts. But to do so, I'll need the campaign resources to ensure I can battle back against the misleading tactics the GOP has relied on in the past. The June 30th filing deadline is just a few hours away - will you make a contribution of $50, $25, $15, or whatever you can afford today?
See, the Republicans think they can make my election a referendum on our agenda. They think if they can take out another Democratic leader they can put an end to the good work we're doing in the halls of Congress.
The five months since President Obama took office have been the most productive since FDR's first term. We've done much - equal pay for women, strengthening the children's health insurance program, and the most meaningful public lands bill in history - but have much more left to do. With your support we can turn our economy around, end our dependence on foreign oil and make health care more affodable.
Will you stand with me today and support my campaign?
You and I both know how important the quarterly fundraising deadlines are. This is an opportunity to show the strength of our campaign. You're an important part of our grassroots effort because you share the values I fight for here in Washington: energy independence, affordable health care and a stronger economy.
I look forward to your continued support and friendship in the months and years ahead.
-Harry
P.S. Stay tuned in the coming days as I launch my new website!

2. I couldn't get past the "you & I" part. |
|
The only time we're "together" is election time, it seems.
Letting Bush/Cheney go unchecked was your first big mistake, Harry.
I've seen you do nothing but walk softly; whatever happened to that "big stick"?

5. I got this email, too, and I responded. |

Told him when he earns my money, he might get my money. Until then, he has to act like a Majority Leader and get those Blue Dogs in line, and pass health care, repeal DADT, and get enough votes to pass other critical legislation while we have the majority. WTH is he waiting for???? Until then, I said, don't come asking me for money!
More or less, more politely, this is what I told him.
