Senator, your price tag is showing. Some artificial person walked in, saw you on the shelf, and walked out with you in its pocket. How is that working out for you? Is it gratifying, knowing that you're making those artificial people so much money? You're not making them happy, of course, because corporations cannot feel happy. Individual employees can, but the only ones who are getting happy in this arrangement are the people with the golden parachutes.
So how much does it cost to buy a U.S. Senator, Senator? Would it be possible for several of us ordinary citizens to pool our resources and possibly RENT you for a short time? Long enough for you to consider actually opening yourself to debate on single-payer? Ah. I see. Might it be said that you're an HONEST politician? Once bought you stay bought?
How's that working out for you?
You know who you are and you know that I'm speaking to you directly. How much did it cost for you to abandon your responsibilities to the real living and dying citizens of this country in favor of doing things that benefit your friends at ScrewYou Health Care Incorporated?
I don't know if it's because you're afraid to fight for us, or because you never gave a damn in the first place, but you've proved to be a major disappointment in more ways than I care to count.
No matter how well connected and respected you seem to be among your peers, imagine how the rest of us--the ones who are paying attention--are thinking and talking about you. Don't be surprised when and if the veneer of civilization should slip off an ordinary citizen one day soon and you find yourself on the receiving end of a serious tongue-lashing.
Your price tag is showing, Senator, and it's tacky as hell.

11. Funny how people here like ONE kind of whore... |
|
...the one who sells her body for sexual purposes, and hates another kind, the one who sells his soul to corporations.
They expect that the sexual whore has integrity, owns her own soul, is simply fulfilling a societal need and deserves to be legalized. They expect that the political whore has no integrity, is battered psychologically if not physically, is a product of greed and should be burned at the stake.
Perhaps, one bright day, it will be realized that both kinds of whores are really the same kind of person. And on that day, it will only be observed by extraterrestrials, because the human race will have been dead for thousands of years.

13. A person with no soul. Maybe...an un-person. |
|
A prostitute who sells her body and a politician who sells his soul have actually BOTH sold their souls. They have converted themselves from human beings into things. And while human beings have something about them that is marvelous, inspirational and joyous, things are...things.
You might (and I suspect you will) bring up the case of the prostitute who sells her soul to provide milk for her baby, or some such thing. If given a chance to live without being dehumanized, she might recover her soul.
