Palin: If I Were In The WH, "The Department Of Law" Would Protect Me
Edited on Tue Jul-07-09 08:29 AM by kpete
But when I asked Palin if she ever decided to pursue national office again, as she did less than a year ago when she joined Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., in the race for the White House, wouldn't she encounter the same political blood sport? Can such ugliness ever be avoided?

Palin said there is a difference between the White House and what she has experienced in Alaska. If she were in the White House the "department of law" would protect her from baseless ethical allegations.

"I think on a national level your department of law there in the White House would look at some of the things that we've been charged with and automatically throw them out," she said.

.................

There is no "Department of Law" at the White House.

1. But Palin isn't running for President, so this was purely hypothetical, right?

His "Department of Law" didn't protect President Clinton from baseless ethical allegations.

53. I swear I thought too that this was a joke post
Even though my dialup is slowing to a freaking crawl this morning and dumping me left and right, I am trying to pull up the abc link to see it with my own eyes.

I read elsewhere that she'd called Guiliani and Cheney to ask for "advice" - I am now certain that either a) she called but they didn't pick up, or b) they did encourage her to do this and entertained her take over the political scene fantasies. So that she would get out there completely on her own, say wierd stuff that we can't even believe is true, and then they will step in to cut off the limb behind her.

Repubs can't win again in my lifetime if this woman were to start her own party. So she draws crowds? So she brings in money? For what? Her 23% of the fundie wierdo repub vote? That won't win you high office, and worse, it will split the repub vote enough that the rest of them won't win either. Dems won't vote for her obviously, and neither will Independents. I think the repub party knows this and needs to marginalize her to the wierdo category asap.

The only good news I see is that Palin won't listen to them, and will likely fracture their party beyond recognition. Fine by me.

That's about as corrupt as it gets isn't it? Sure she got "Department of Law" wrong, but the underlying statement is even nastier.

69. What an idiot
She just makes a fool of herself everytime she opens her mouth. One thing that nobody commented on is the fact that she dodged the question. The question was not about how she would be treated as president. It was about the fact that if she ran for national office, she would have to deal with the same "ugliness" that she encountered in her run for the VP. The question was kind of a reality check. If she decides to run in 2012, she will need to be prepared to face her crtics. There will be a lot of negativity. Palin didn't address this issue at all and acted like she was asked about how as president she would deal with naysayers. I don't think she wants to admit that she has no future in national politics.

just imagine, let's say, if someone on the Democratic side said this, someone like her who is a political figure, but no longer holds office (although she does for the next two weeks, but let's make this fun)

Imagine, then, if First Lady Michelle Obama who is not an elected representative, never has been, and based on what we've seen to date, has ZERO ambition to hold office, but let's imagine that she went on a talk show and referenced the "Department of Law" in our federal government.

It would be streamed 24/7 on every channel. Pundits would be freaking out.

No, but this grifting, know-nothing, quitter, wannabe POTUS says it, and they let it slide.

Pathetic.

83. The McCain family has enough to be mortified about without Palin
Megan McCain makes Sarah look like a Rhodes Scholar -- or should that be Roads Scholar.

Palin's new motto: Quit, Baby, Quit!

84. Note that the state of Alaska
does indeed have a http://www.law.state.ak.us/">Department of Law. I could see a state official, especially one as inexperienced and provincial as Gov. Palin, assuming the federal government is similarly organized. IMHO, this isn't much bigger than some of Biden's blunders; however, it's much funnier when Palin does it.

93. I actually gave one of the office "independents" a chance to agree that Palin was an IDIOT...
Edited on Tue Jul-07-09 09:45 PM by TankLV
and this "independant" insisted that the "idiot" I was talking about was BIDEN!

and when I continued to mention that surely, after all this crap about her has come out - that surely he would agree that she is an asshole of the first caliber - and this REPUKE (not "independant" - only when you start to criticize his hero bush* he goes "they're all corrupt" or something similar. "and besides, I'm not a republican - I'm and "independant") he went on about Biden and how horrible he was, and when I finally said - Look - you really believe carabou barbie is BETTER than SOMEBODY - ESPECIALLY Biden? - he looked increduluous and said "OF COURSE!" - I couldn't believe it! This IDIOT is supposed to be an "Educated" college graduate!!!

I left shaking my head...

Well, maybe somebody like Colbert could.

Keep talkin' Moose Queeny. We're lovin' it. And so are 70% of Republicans, who say they'd vote for her in 2012.
