Thermometer reads 26 degrees here in South Carolina |
|
right now. Just wondering how that fits in with the Global Warming scenario. Seems very odd, especially since I DO believe the majority of scientists on the issue.

1. The Freepers are estatic over this. |
|
Disproves global warming. One freeper said "suck it, Al." That's a pretty raunchy comment for FR.

4. How fucking stupid can they be? Global warming means two seasons, winter and summer |
|
The far end of each spectrum....
What nitwits.

2. Global warming causes "more extreme weather" including local cooling |
|
You asked, there's the answer people would give you with five times the verbage.

Don't ask me to make it make sense :)

8. It takes energy to move air masses. |
|
Global warming increases the mobility of air masses, both warm and cold. We therefore expect them to show up where they're not expected, so to speak.
A result is greater temperature swings, though global average temperatures trend upward.

5. Global warming: long-term phenomenon, Cold snap: short-term phenomenon |
|
Just because the average temperature could rise by several degrees by the end of this century does not necessarily mean cold snaps are things of the past either.

7. Not all that unusual in SC. |
|
There is almost always an 'Easter chill' in South Carolina, for as long as I can remember, and that is a very long time. I've seen it at 25 and 26 degrees before, back in the early 90s. One year there was a dusting of snow in early April. It doesn't get THIS cold every year, but chilling down at Easter is not all that unusual. My grandfather always waited till after Easter to plant certain susceptible things.
That said, what I do find unusual is that we were barefoot and in shorts for much of March. Now that was scary. I shudder to think of what August will bring.

12. Problem is that gardeners and farmers can't do their planting based on Easter |
|
They must base it on specific dates. Easter occurs within about a 5 week period.

learn the difference between weather and climate. Saying a cold snap is proof there's no global warming is like saying "Hey, I feel good today, I must not have cancer anymore."

14. Great analogy, Red Zelda |

There is not one legitimate scientists who disputes Global Warming. The ones that do are bought and paid for by the oil companies.
