We need a simple law: Felonies cannot be classified. |
|
That's it. Period. If a felony is committed, whatever it was in connection with is immediately and automatically de-classified.

3. I imagine it has something to do with giving the president the power to commit crimes. |
|
By classifying anything that could be evidence in the crime used to convict him.

6. That's a little to broad IMO |
|
A person working on a secret weapons satellite gets busted for felony theft of government property.
Does the whole project become declassified?

7. How about giving Federal judges security clearances? |
|
They did earn their way up through the ranks enough to be given a robe and gavel - you'd think at least some of them would be trustworthy and clean-nosed enough to be given a security clearance.
That way, court cases that involve state secrets can be handled in regular courts - if something classified comes up, the judge just handles the issue in his chamber and issues a ruling.
It's a much better way than handling it with "State secret, you lose!!!"
