Not a single "Recommend this if you agree with me" post on the Greatest Page. |

5. Someone was trying to tell me unrec would make them more common. |
|
I don't see how. It's getting so people will unrecommend a thread if either "recommend" or "unrecommend" appears in the title.

10. FOR ME, the reason I now enjoy it is I see really cool threads that MEAN something |
|
and are full of the nuggets of news people at DU are likely to care about the most. Today's offering is plenty of proof for me. But it will be fun to see how it proceeds from here.
Definitely liking that the "Obama is a Satan Worshipping Drag Queen 10 times worse than Bush ever was" threads aren't sniffing the light of day on Greatest.

13. It might actually become useful as an indicator of which threads DUers think others should read |
|
which might mean threads of actual quality--threads actually worth READING--will dominate the list, rather than threads that merely grandstand to a populous faction.

21. Agreed. It has already vastly improved the quality there. |
|
This allows the DU membership to knock those unworthy topics down.
Now, if they can find a way to get rid of posters using the forum as their Private Message center.

Just as the admins thought, the result is a suppression of all the nonsensical threads whose only reason for being on the Greatest page was having five posters who thought it belonged there.
This one change has done great good, not just for the Greatest page, but for this forum. It has already created more threads, while suppressing the rapid fire thread starters significantly. The delusion has ended with balance brought to the process.

27. It's the delusion that a handful of fellow travelers meant broad based acceptance. |
|
That sound you hear is the wailing and gnashing of teeth by those most sorely injured by the cold, hard truth that their threads are not the resounding success they always imagined.

25. The new "UnRec feature" has shone some light on our massive TROLL problem. |
|
We have shitloads of registered 'members' who have never posted, and they're all using the 'UnRec' button on every single GD thread.
I guess they're too damned STUPID to realize that the Admins anticipated this, and have been keeping an eye out for just such patterns of behavior.
Trolls are STUPID; Skinner & Co. are frickin BRILLIANT.
The "Day of a Thousand Tombstones" draws near. It's gonna be LEGENDARY.
