4. For most Americans, it's for the same reason homelessness is tolerated
It doesn't affect "THEM". And it's easier to ignore it than to try and solve or worry about it.

I don't think that's right, btw. I think anyone who's really thought about the war and homelessness and the starving people right on our own doorsteps is INCENSED by these conditions (and others) and that they should exist in what so many Americans call "the greatest nation on earth".

We could fix a lot of these problems if it weren't for human nature. That's all I got.

5. There is no war.
There IS the occupation of a (formerly?) sovereign nation that has caused more than 30 of our troops to die in the first week of April. Is that the war of which you speak?

9. Sure. I just get exercised when I hear this crap: "war" and especially "war on terror"
We seem to have a propensity for waging "war" on concepts - with no identifiable enemy. I might support a war on stupidity but that has the same problem: Who exactly do we have to defeat?

19. We aren't the enemy, the enemy is bu$hco. An enemy to the majority of Americans.
After all, they don't care what we think, no matter how many times we tell we don't want this Occupation of Iraq or any other Country they wish to divide, conquer and OCCUPY, including our own!

That has been my theory.

IF we saw the violence, absolutely everyone would want it ended. Period.

There are many parallels. Even in my own life. And it explains the actions of the war mongering conservatives over the years. Ie, media alteration and ownership.

After five hours on a bike in the forest trails, I'm outta here. It's Shadrack and to bed we go.

16. Whose Tollerating It?????
I've worked my ass off the last two elections to put in Democrats to start putting the brakes on this Repugnican power grab and their war for profit. The Democratic Party had dug itself in a whole...being shut out of the legislative for the past 12 years and the road back was almost like starting from scratch. In the meantime, the Repugnicans felt they could run roughshod and not have to assume responsibliity. We've come back, but still have a long way to go.

Sadly, without supermajorities in both houses, Democrats will run into an executive hellbent on power and greed at all costs and this is what we are and can expect to face for the next year or longer. If you're pissed, get out today and start finding out whose running for Congress in your area...if you're in a district with a Repugnican, then get involved with a campaign...or find one to get working with...so we can accomplish two major goals in '08...the ending of this illigitimate, ugly invasion and the banishment of the Repugnican party to minority status for many years to come.

23. Everyone has kids to feed
Everyone has to go to work, earn some money, pay the taxes.

Yes, if we stopped going to work, stopped earning money, and stopped paying taxes, we might have a say in what goes on.

As it currently stands, we have a large scale nation where 1 person in Congress "represents" 600,000-700,000 people, or 3 million people, respectively. We all have specialized jobs that don't require that everyone pays attention to something which isn't part of their career. We all also have stock in the system, and seem to not only wish it to continue, but also to grow.

I think that's why we tolerate war. For most people, it's just in our minds. There is no physical reality to it.

The first thing you always hear from most people towards the resolution of any conflict either national or personal is "kick thier ass". We are a very immature people as a whole.
