Tell this to outsourced IT workers and/or people who don't like unions:
People used to blame unions in the 1980s for manufacturing jobs moving abroad. It was all the fault of these lazy, overpaid union workers who refused to learn new skills and adapt to change.

So in the 1990s we have a highly skilled, very anti-union individualistic technical workforce, that thrived on change, was highly motivated to work hard and long hours and prided itself on constant education. What happened? Their jobs were sent to India.

(Props to DBoon for that)

1. Is there any legitimate reason for an H1B visa program?
Why not cancel it? There are plenty of engineers in the US who want to work.

2. No "legitimate" reason. Only a corporate profits reason.

4. Why hire an American, when you can get an H1B at 1/3 the price?
someone who cant complain, because their visa is tied to their job?

3. Good points.
Usually I try to find ways to disagree with statements even if I agree with them, but I can't argue with that.

7. I hope the whole things collapses
You know, regarding outsourcing, certain people depend on workers to purchase their services, as in doctors and medical care. So if people cannot afford medical care, the doctors are shit-out-of-luck too. No patient money, no doctor money.

8. That's a generalization. Plenty of IT workers, myself included
come from union parents and are and always have been pro-union. Yes, I was outsourced. Yes, my job went to India. No, I'm still not anti-union, and I never blamed the unions for the shift in manufacturing to overseas. I properly lay the blame where it belonged.

9. I think there is some truth to it though
I remember back in the 1990s lots of young (20s) IT workers felt like they were on top of the world, and I heard lots of comments like "if I lose a job here I'll just go next door" and "unions sucks, hiring dumb muscle should be cheap".

They aren't so cocky anymore, suckers.
