He isn't the first comic strip artist to stay too long in the field. Todays norm seems to be to leave too soon, which is a bummer as the funny pages are a pretty barren place these days.

I have enjoyed "BC" since I was a child. Yes, not all the strips were equally good, and around Christmas they tended to become embarrassing. But the best were superb!

I can just see Hart showing his latest cartoon to God with the Almighty replying,
