Ratigan questions why "pillars of the community (like Madoff)" can exhibit such morally detached
behavior. Madoff was a crook who created a "pillarhood" for himself to make his criminal activity easier. These financial guru types on the teevee just immediately assume that wealth=integrity=respect=good guy.

Even Evangelicals tell us indirectly that if you are wealthy and powerful it's because God is showering you with favoritism
