He lived a long full life, and saw so much - he was a fixture in the homes of many people during some of the most turbulent times.

For the many over the years for whom he had an impact in your life, we grieve with you and salute the good job he did.

1. I remember my mom reacting to his tears when he gave the news of Kennedy's death;

and I remember his utter joy at the landing.

Yet he was the very definition of objectiveness--which makes those two incidents and his reporting of them all the more extraordinary.

He reported every major news story that impacted my life through the 50's, 60'a and 70's. He lived a long and wonderful life and I have not seen anything like him since the 80's. We did trust him and believed what he told us, we have not had that kind of honesty since. He had an impact alright and we grew up expecting the same kind of truth and honesty Cronkite and Morrow and Huntley/Brinkley geve us, sadly we were duped after they left TV as the bean conters came in with no imagination, no truth no honesty, just greed and destroyed it all. I am glad to have experienced them all.
