What part of the November elections did mr. levin miss?
Who are these people who don't give one shit what you or I or the vast number of voters think?

~snip~ Michigan Sen. Carl Levin, the Senate Armed Services Committee chairman, took issue with an effort by Majority Leader Harry Reid to limit war spending after March 2008 as a way to end U.S. involvement.

"We're not going to vote to cut funding, period," Levin said. "

3. He's the first to show himself
The beauty of a Bush veto is that eventually the contingent of Dems (or at least some of them) who really support this war are going to have to poke their heads out and vote to continue funding. Let the folding begin.

5. Levin "funding" war but not PAYING for war. If he wants to be a war-lover he
needs to start paying for his obsession and stop "funding" a debt he expects the rest of us to pay off.

7. Cutting funding is asinine. It isn't going to happen. It's a dumb thing to do,
unless there are absolutely no other options. Dems have just begun to fight Chimpy on Iraq in Congress. You don't pull out the big guns first, and thus cause a lot of unintended damage--you start by "diplomacy", just as we're supposed to do with rogue foreign nations. Pressure. Sanctions. Smart Dems like Levin have learned the lessons of history, and are showing common sense in not wanting to own this disaster AND its disastrous aftermath. Harry Reid and Russ Feingold are principled in what they're proposing, but so are the Dems (like Ben Nelson, my own Senator) who would not cut funding if there is another way.
