Does anyone actually LIKE him? Even in the rarest instance that he gets something right, he's simply UNBEARABLE. I don't even think the other SIDE likes him. Is it just that he's a curiosity in a freakish kind of way?

How in the hell can anyone stomach looking at him, let alone listening to such an egotistical asshole as him for more than a few seconds?

The way he just sits there trying to look like a bad ass cowboy while a mixture of drool and chewed-up ice chunks forms on his chin and how he's constantly digging for cooties which are embedded in his scalp is so damn DISGUSTING.

Once or twice each decade, I'll try my best to see if I can watch one of his shows, but so far my record for watching Imus is 3 minutes and 38.5 seconds of SHEER ABSOLUTE TORTURE.

The guy is nothing but a bully and a poor one at that. How did his show last so many years?

1. Habit.
Habit kept Laugh In on the air for 5 years when their shtik had gotten stale by the end of the second season.

Habit is keeping Lamebawl on the air. Nobody is more stale than Fatso.

Habit keeps people coming back to those megachurches since the only other entertainment in town involves potential DUIs and fistfights.

Habit makes people want to smoke again, even when the nicotine has been out of their systems for weeks, months or even years.

And habit is what is keeping the audiences for creeps like Imus going strong, that need for the familiar. There is nothing more familiar than a stale routine, especially when it runs on bigotries.

5. Yeah, and at least with Johnny Carson there was some good sex
going on. Or so I heard. I was too young to find out for myself, actually. But now that I come to think about it, Johnny Carson was entertaining.

11. I agree with everything except
Laugh-In. Laugh-In was always great in my opinion, and really so totally different than your other examples. You must not have grown up in the 60's and 70's, or you probably wouldn't say that.

14. I wasn't quite of legal age when Laugh In started in Jan. 1968
and I thought it was hilarious. By the end of the second season, it had gotten repetitious and predictable.

Some people love watching the same in jokes and shtik that were funny when they were fresh and new because they become familiar and they remember back when they were funny.

That's what I call habit.

10. Yes, just to show we can
Why not? He doesn't have a *right* to have a radio show, it's a business and with pressure we could get him fired. That's good, I would like the media whores to be very careful about pissing us off.

12. I prefer a reason other than "just to show we can"

The man should be fired for spewing racist, misogynistic crap, this I agree with. "Just to show we can" - not so much.

can't argue with that. Now how sure are you that you are above 100? And how much above 100?

6. I know this doesn't help, but yeah... like Rush and Coulter, people like him
or maybe I should say "people."

My father-in-law just yesterday was laughing at Imus' remarks and making fun of people for being offended. He thought it was Hi-larious. Then again, he is one of the 23%ers for sure, and still defends Bush and makes every talking point every time I see him. It's kind of funny sometimes, actually, because I know exactly what he's going to say and usually have a counter-argument (although yesterday I was just tired and when he went off on Gore, I told him "you're right - why should we try to not poison our air and water, regardless of global warming. Excuse me while I go take a shit in your street.")

7. I believe
people like him and Tucker Carlson clearly have the inside track of some programming VP. In Imus case he at least has some ratings appeal (to whom I shudder to think). In Carlsons case...

9. HIs show has always had a sarcastic/disrespectful attitude
He took it over the line... He takes things to the limit much of the time, but this statement went beyond even what he represents....

13. Imus does have a few good folks on , though.
I can't watch the show for very long, either. But one of the best times was when he had Kerry on or George Carlin, and Mark Knopfler and EmmyLou Harris. Wow! He has had a few good musical guests on, rarities to see. The only other thing I think is good are the Green cleaning products that he and his wife are pushing on their ranch, and then there are the cancer kids he helps, but he can be such an asshole. Really, I think he's tired and wants to be fired!

17. Because he is and always has been controversial.
Obviously people like that. He has been on a long time so someone is watching him. He makes a living out of calling people names and criticizing them. I just think fair is fair. When O'Reilly made the remark about the boy that was kidnapped by the child moselster he accused the boy of enjoying and liking it since he didn't have to go to school and just had a good time. Where was the outrage there to remove him? That was an innocent child for God's sake.
