Two toddlers shoot siblings in US
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8168465.stm

Two young children have been shot by their siblings in the space of 24 hours in the United States.

In Las Vegas, a two-year-old girl was in a critical condition after being shot by her four-year-old brother at their home, police said.

In South Carolina, a four-year-old boy was shot in the stomach by his three-year-old brother after the little boy found a gun.

The injured boy was expected to make a full recovery, police said.

3. I think this was in the same week, a 3 yr old toddler shot himself in the face and died.

I heard about it the other day on our local news but can't find much online.

Poor little tots. I hope the 2 & 4 yr old recover.

7. I think every gun I've bought in the last 10 years has come with a lock of some kind.

5. Guns don't kill people. Babies do. These two incidents are
so sad.

6. Gun owners must secure their loaded weapons around children

For those folks who know folks who own guns and have kids, I recommend gun safes (small or large) as baby shower presents, birthdays, holiday presents, etc. Having little kids often means big bills and things like lock boxes sometimes don't get purchases. If you know folks with kids and guns, just do it. Buy one and give it to them.

Some people want to have quick access to their handguns for security purposes and that is a legitimate concern. But you don't have leave you gun accessible to kids.

Push button mechanical lock boxes are great. See below. My .357 sits in a AMSEC pushbutton lock box on top of the standup piano in the living room. My four-year is safe. Itonly cost $125 -- cheaper than my car seat.

Other lock boxes like these gun vaults are excellent too:
