here they are: the dogs.
Edited on Sat Jul-25-09 12:17 PM by spanone
The Blue Dog Coalition - who celebrated 15 years of leadership in 2009 - has built a reputation as a serious player in the policy arena, promoting positions which bridge the gap between ideological extremes. Many of the group's policy proposals have been praised as fair, responsible, and positive additions to a Congressional environment too often marked as partisan and antagonistic.

3. How I WISH we could get rid of Taylor
My "representative" from south Mississippi. He's the ultimate DINO. However, I'm afraid the congressional seat is his for as long as he wants it, unless some popular Repuke beats him in the general election.

8. why is healthcare for the population an ideological extreme?
Edited on Sat Jul-25-09 11:59 AM by spanone
it's called obstruction of the democratic platform

the problem with this thinking is that NOT ONE REPUCLICAN gives a SHIT if there party is ideologically extreme

the democrats essentially have a opposition party within their party...how fucked is that?

9. Republican will-to-power for power's sake and for NO other REASON.
I try not to be extreme. I work at and value Rationalism.

But you kind of have to admit that over time certain economic and social trends would NATURALLY produce more and more and more extremes. And then, within their religio-fascistic ideology, the extremity become self-justifying, "I/We know we are RIGHTEOUS because I/We feel it sooooooooo strongly and that feeling is proof of how RIGHT I/We are."

Everyone in the U.S.A. need to know more about human behavior and mental processes. They need to know where feelings and thoughts and behaviors come from. They need the basic tools provided by Psychology.

13. i'm disappointed in any so-called democrat who opposes their party's platform
if you oppose your party, you are not a member of it...imo

not to mean you cannot disagree, but when you organize this many people to oppose your party, you are in the wrong one.

18. Oh, I agree.
The reason I mention him specifically is because he's from my state and I know him personally, although apparently I don't know him as well as I thought I did. They're all jerks for being DINOs but his degree of turncoat style came as a great surprise to me. He (and the rest of the 'Blue Dogs') just should have been honest enough to run as a freaking Repub in the first place, dangit. He is one after all.

That's how they'll be known if they work to prevent meaningful healthcare reform.

16. My parents live in Altmeyer's District
And are acquainted with him through his wife, who used to work for the AARP. He worked at UPMC himself, so he should damn well know better. I think I'll let my parents know that he's one of the ones blocking health care reform. Then sit back and watch THEM eviscerate him!
