Nicolas Sarkozy taken to hospital
President Sarkozy of France was rushed to hospital today after collapsing whilst taking physical exercise, according to a statement from his office.

Mr Sarkozy, 54, was immediately treated by his personal doctor, who is on call 24 hours a day, after suffering what the statement described as "un malaise" at his weekend residence in Versailles outside Paris.

The term is vague and can mean anything from a heart attack to a bout of dizziness.

The French president was subsequently taken to hospital in Paris for further tests, according to the statement. He is believed to have been transported to Val-de-Grace military hospital in Paris by helicopter.
