So, Liberals want to enact legislation to kill the elderly, huh? |
|
Who helps the elderly?
Meal On wheels Housing assistance Subsidies for heating oil or coal Medicare Social Security Rural electrification
All Liberal Democratic policies that help old folks.
Who opposed all of these? Who opposes them, at least in rhetoric, to this day?
Conservatives.
Liberals help our elderly. Conservatives don't care about our elderly.

5. It's one of the talking points of the reich wing, that the health care |
|
bill will be used in part to euthanize the elderly.
It's such bullshit, it makes my head hurt.
Virginia Foxx (R-Crazy) stood on the house floor the other day and said just that, that the Dems want to euthanize the elderly.

12. I'm so sick to death of hearing that. |
|
I had to have my very elderly and lame dog euthanized a few days ago. When I called my mom to tell her about it, I expected her to commiserate. Instead, she said, "If this healthcare bill passes they'll be doing that to us (meaning old people) soon."

I hesitate to say it but I think they are being fools because our President is black. He is new to them and they are fools.

16. This is just another scare tactic...... |
|
The bill section they are referring to is talking about the right for everyone to have as part of their healthcare access to assistance with completing an advance directive, aka a "living will". It is in the current Medicare bill and part of current Medicare practices.
So this at least with respect to seniors is nothing new. It ensures that seniors on Medicare are given an opportunity to have assistance with completing a directive that will control in the event of temporary or permanent incapacity where the person can no longer make decisions about their care up to and including decisions regarding end of life.
A similar provision is being proposed in health care reform to ensure that all Americans are given the same opportunity. One talking head I heard in a quote said it is ridiculous to include this for "younger" Americans as they don't need this. I couldn't disagree more. Any American at any age could be injured or be taken ill to the point where they can't make these decisions. If they are minors their parents have these rights. Upon majority it is highly recommended everyone have this type of directive. A 25 year-old is just a likely if not more of being seriously injured in a traffic accident than someone at 65.
