A good question about Health care systems around the globe.
O.k. so let me get this right, Canada, England etc their health care systems are HORRIBLE, right so far? And we hear RANDOM stories about bad experiences some have had (still right?) BUT like any system there are good stories and bad stories usually like anything else the truth is usually somewhere in the middle. An example I'd like to share and some may have seen.

On fuax and friends they had an ex- military guy on saying he was stationed in Italy a a small base and his son broke his arm and being a small base they has to send him to an Italian University hospital (NOW KEEP THIS IN MIND) he said the care was good BUT the wait was horrible and people we waiting long periods to see a doctor o.k. so far? In other words insinuating that this is what people would have in store here if we did this health care bill here long wait lines etc. O.k. so let me ask a question (before the question more to my point of this topic) How many of you have EVER had to wait in the emergency room? I'd bet most let me share an example here too. In 2006 I went on a Wednesday night to the hospital and WOW it was four hours before I got in and this is a small town by comparison to some and ALL three era hospitals were the same seems like everyone hurt them selves that night. So under our CURRENT system I Had to wait. NOW the next night I had to once again return, Want to know my wait time? FIVE MINUTES!!!! So this military mans argument does not hold any weight or merit, Waiting times will have NOTHING to do with this bill as we can wait now under the current system. As I said HE SAID THE CARE WAS GOOD just didn't like waiting.

O.k. so anyway I got kind of side tracked my REAL question is, if the systems in these other countries are as bad as the idiots like Hannity and Beck claim WHY HAVEN'T THESE COUNTRIES done away with it. WHY haven't their people DEMANDED a change from this system? I don't seem to recall any of these people wanting it done away with, its bad right? So why do they still have it?

ANY SYSTEM is not perfect ANY SYSTEM will have waiting times ANY SYSTEM will have bad doctors, ANY SYSTEM will have bungled operations etc. You get the point. The Republicans arguments are idiotic and lame.

One more side note Beck claimed one way to reform health care was to limit lawsuits but the Lawyer working FOR him burst his bubble ( and I think embarrassed him LOL) Beck said limit law suits and the Lawyer said um NO NINETY FIVE PERCENT of all lawsuits are won by the doctors Beck HAD to look like an idiot so he goes on to say OH UM GOLLY well how lawsuits against the insurance companies that drive up prices (I think you can guess it) the lawyer said WRONG AGAIN!! Individuals DO NOT SUE insurance companies they don't have the money or resources for that, PEOPLE sue individual doctors.

What an idiot Beck is he couldn't even get this guy to side with him, he must have been madder then crap after that.

1. Good question.
And you're right, unsubstantiated personal anecdotes ("I heard from a friend who has a friend in Canada...") are not a reason to condemn an entire system, unless of course you're a republican. The military guy said the wait was horrible, but did he say HOW long he had to wait? Half an hour? Two hours? What I'd like to know is how much did the Italian hospital charge him to treat his son? How much more would an American hospital have charged a foreigner without insurance?

I bet you could find many more people with stories of being treated promptly in countries with universal health care.
