Deported Activists Ask: What Is Israel Hiding?

Two US citizens recently deported from Israel said they were treated as criminals when they tried to report on what is happening in the Palestinian Territories. Sarah Martin, a member of Women Against Military Madness (WAMM) and Katrina Plots of the Anti-War Committee refused voluntary deportation and were forcibly deported on Sunday evening.

3 US citizens of MN denied entry into Palestinian territories.

Yet MN's Rep Michelle Bachman is heading to Israel, with other GOP Congress members.

What is the connection of these women being denied entry, when 7 others were able to get through?

(Katrina is also a writer and poet so that is why she talks of wanting a pen/pencil)

later that evening, Sarah was interview on the Uptake's radio show which airs on 950 AM radio at 5pm Mon-Fri. Noah, the host, also interviewed Kathy Kelly who is touring and talking of her recent trip to Pakistan.

1. Guess: territory is being seized by the Israeli government and they are working
to make it look like a done deal, hiding the evidence of the evictions and the rest. Expect rapid razing and settlement building on seized land. I would also expect them to take some steps to get more water, for example from the springs that are across the border in Lebanon. Does anyone know what is happening now in that area?

2. so far only one local corporate news channel covered it
but only barely covered it. Yet, one of the 3 US citizens arrested and held in Iran was born in MN and that has constantly been on the news, and the mother interview from the day it was reported they were arrested. Is it because it was by Iran? is it because the person is a male?

These are two woman who did nothing wrong, being held separately in Israel jail. Yet it get very minimal coverage by corporate news,, thank goodness we have independent alternative media.. too bad DU also feels they had to move it to general discussion.

3. "These are two woman who did nothing wrong." Oh, but they did.
Unlike the others in Iran, who actually didn't do anything wrong other than accidentally crossing the border. The treatment in Israel and Iran are much different, but you know, those poor "do-gooders" harassed by the evil Zionist Empire. :eyes:

Your crap article got moved to GD because it isn't a legitimate LBN source. Stop bitching, at least it didn't get moved to IP and immediately locked for not being correctly posted.

Too bad these criminals got it so easy and just got deported.

5. wow "Behind the Aegis " reminds me of the Freepers
What did these two woman do that was wrong ?
What was their criminal action ? the fact that they are woman?
That they speak out against oppression ?

Do you call all human rights activists "do-gooders" ?

Actually "THE UPTAKE" has a lot of credibility. They are citizen journalists, if you are in the Twin Cities you might want to listen to their show on 950am on at 5pm.

It was THE UPTAKE that continuously reported on the Franken/Coleman recount.

and by the way did you know:

The Foreign Ministry unveiled a new plan this week: Paying talk-backers to post pro-Israel responses on websites worldwide. A total of NIS 600,000 (roughly $150,000) will be earmarked to the establishment of an “Internet warfare” squad."

Israelis treat Americans with utter contempt - spying on and publicly sneering at us while taking our money and military technology, laughing up their sleeves as American politicians kowtow to the Israel lobby and send American soldiers to fight Israel's wars. They even get to arrest and manhandle American anti-war protesters, then use American money to pay Israeli bloggers to spam their website.

"What did these two woman do that was wrong ? " They went to a foreign nation with the intention of breaking said countries laws.

"What was their criminal action ? the fact that they are woman?" Their criminal action was trying to access Gaza without proper permission. The second question shows your "freeper" tendencies.

"That they speak out against oppression ?" Lots of people do it and do so without breaking laws.

"Do you call all human rights activists "do-gooders" ?" Just the hypocritical drama queens/kings.

"Actually "THE UPTAKE" has a lot of credibility. They are citizen journalists, if you are in the Twin Cities you might want to listen to their show on 950am on at 5pm. " Didn't say it wasn't I said it wasn't LBN material; read the rules and what is actually written.

"The Foreign Ministry unveiled a new plan this week: Paying talk-backers to post pro-Israel responses on websites worldwide. A total of NIS 600,000 (roughly $150,000) will be earmarked to the establishment of an “Internet warfare” squad."" So? They have every right to spend their money anyway they want. There is also something similar among Jew-haters of the National Vanguard and Stormfront, as well as lesser-organized version from the Klan. I doubt they pay as much though.

"Israelis treat Americans with utter contempt - spying on and publicly sneering at us while taking our money and military technology, laughing up their sleeves as American politicians kowtow to the Israel lobby and send American soldiers to fight Israel's wars. They even get to arrest and manhandle American anti-war protesters, then use American money to pay Israeli bloggers to spam their website." And once again, you expose your ignorance, and bigotry toward Israelis. You have sucked down so much anti-Israel propaganda kool-aid, your probably about to piss your pants. Given your first volley, I am guessing you already did.

Perhaps you should actually learn about Israel, Israelis, and the conflict rather than continue looking like nothing more than a foolish hate-filled propagandist.

8. remind me what laws were these women going to break?
I'll be sure to let these women know you consider them criminals.

I have not seen anything were these women anticipated breaking any laws, or even committing civil disobedience in Palestine or Israel. Also it was the Israel government that lied to them while these women where in jail that they didn't have a right to a lawyer, all the while their supporters already secured a lawyer for them.

Martin Luther King often broke the law as did 100's of other great Americans which included Jewish Americans.

wow, so know I am anti-Semitic. that is ok Freepers screamed in my face that I am a Saddam lover and Anti American when I protest our government's actions.

Are their rules for attacking other posters?

I'll let my Jewish friends and family know I'm anti-Semitic.. and the Jewish camp I worked at for several years, and the Hanukkah camp i worked at for 2 years. Jewish Big Brothers and Big Sisters will happy to know I'm a Jew hater.

Speaking out against our Government does not make a person Anti-American and
Speaking out against Israel policy does not make a person a Jew-hater.

There are hundreds of thousands of Jews speaking out against the current Israel government and speaking out against the treatment of Palestinians. Get your head out of the sand and the Israel flag out of your butt and maybe you will see them.

9. So, some of your best friends are Jewish? Wow, how fucking mindlessly predictable.
I never said you were anti-Semitic. You made that assertion, but it is a predictable one. You probably are also one of the throngs who bitch all the time about people falsely accusing people of anti-Semitism, but your kind is no different by accusing those who "defy" your position of implying you are anti-Semitic.

"Are their rules for attacking other posters?" Typical 'boo-hoo, poor widdle me' bullshit. You make up a false allegation, then cry you are the victim. It is much like the man who murders his parents, then asks for leniency because he is an orphan.

"Speaking out against Israel policy does not make a person a Jew-hater." This is called a "strawman." Look it up. It is a logical fallacy, often employed when no real argument can be made.

"I'll be sure to let these women know you consider them criminals." I am sure they don't care, if anything it makes them "martyrs." Something folks like you seem to enjoy.

"I have not seen anything were these women anticipated breaking any laws, or even committing civil disobedience in Palestine or Israel. Also it was the Israel government that lied to them while these women where in jail that they didn't have a right to a lawyer, all the while their supporters already secured a lawyer for them." They should know there are procedures for entering Gaza. If they failed to follow procedure, then they are breaking Israeli law. I don't know about the other part, I have only heard what your anti-Israeli propagandist friends have said. Besides, they were detained and deported, they were not threatened with doing time in prison. If they wish to break policies of a foreign nation, don't act surprised when action is taken against them.

"Martin Luther King often broke the law as did 100's of other great Americans which included Jewish Americans. " And they paid the price of the law, until those laws were changed. Your friends are like many of the "pro-Palestinian" activists we see in the news, they act as if they have been violated; they haven't.

Tell them, next time, try Rafah, see how their luck goes there. I can't wait to see their "What does Egypt have to hide?" Oh wait, they would never write something like that because everyone knows only Israel is to blame.

Take your bullshit pity party propaganda and find a nice site where your ignorance will not be challenged, thereby sparing your delicate feelings.

11. And you have nothing but lame name-calling.
You sound like a sad little drama queen trying to skim some "glory" off your friends. Sounds like you have something similar to "Münchausen syndrome by proxy." You might what to consult a good shrink.

6. 69 year old great-grandmother a 'security risk.'
Minneapolis women jailed in Israel

<snip>

"Two Minneapolis women, Katrina Plotz and Sarah Martin, are in jail in Israel after being refused entry to the country. A third, Karen Sullivan, was deported August 1 and was en route back to the Twin Cities on Sunday. They were deported after Israeli officials, checking the internet for information about passengers arriving in Israel, discovered that they intended to visit the Palestinian territories, according to Jess Sundin of the Anti-War Committee.

Martin, age 69, lives in Minneapolis and is affiliated with Women Against Military Madness. She is a retired nurse and a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Plotz, age 40, also lives in the Twin Cities, and is a teacher.

According to Sundin, Israeli officials told the three that they were security risks and would not be allowed to enter the country. They were held at the airport and told to sign a paper that said they were leaving voluntarily. Plotz and Martin refused to sign, and were then jailed and told they would be handcuffed and forcibly deported, according to Sundin."
