Big Dawg's (hopefully) successful mission to N Korea will be a big win... |
|
...for Clinton *AND* Obama.
It will show that Obama is willing to use all of the assets at his disposal to achieve an end.... the supreme delegator.
It will also make Clinton relevant again, and possibly used for other missions to other hot spots - Israel-Palestine, Iran, etc.
..and....
It will drive the right-wing nuttier.
"You can't negotiate with terrorists!" (we just did) "You can't talk to dictatorial governments without preconditions!" (just did)

1. It seems odd to me that Obama has to "work around" his own SoS... |
|
to get this done. Hopefully it's not an indication of any sort of serious disconnect.

2. By using her HUSBAND? Yeah...ok..... |
|
Like Bill would do this without Hillary's knowledge and/or blessing.

3. I believe the SOS recently referred to the N. Koreans as "unruly |

children" or something along that line...Probably not good territory for her right now. However. President Clinton had good relations with Kim's father and is highly respected in North Korea. This could be a win win as the OP states. I would also state that IMO Hillary was absolutely correct in her description but that doesn't make for a good start on trying to negotiate release of these women.

5. Ah. Didn't realize that piece of it. Seems like an odd thing for the Head Diplomat to say... |
|
but whatever.
Thanks for the info!

10. How do you know Obama has anything at all to do with this |
|
I was under the impression Al Gore asked him for assistance.. I don't believe this has anything at all to do with the Obama Administration

21. Yes he is the President and yes he had to have given approval but |
|
No one in the Administration was a part of the negotiations. Al Gore and Bill Richardson have been working on this issue for several weeks non-stop. It was Al Gore that asked Clinton to go to North Korea and not Obama. I am sure it had to be cleared with Obama but to say Obama deserves Credit is quite a stretch IMO..He did not stand in the way and for that he deserves Credit.

12. The State Dept wouldn't let a private citizen (even a former Prez) to go to NK without approval ... |
|
...from the administration.
Just like when Carter went on Clinton's behalf in '94.

There is no way in hell that Bill went to NK without the 100% expressed permission, whether |
|
on the books or not, from President Obama.

You don't think THE PRESIDENT or his administration knows when his SoS and her husband are negotiating with a nuclear power over a hostage release?

6. Kind of too bad that the traditional media didn't use descretion about this story. |
|
I suppose if it was a Republican sex scandal or warrantless wire-tapping they'd hold off on the story....but exposing this puts the deal at risk. Maybe that's the real objective, though.

8. My thinking is that these women will come home with him tonight or |
|
tomorrow. I honestly think the deal was settled even before WJC arrived, N. Korea just wanted a "see, we're important too and President Clinton coming here proves it" sort of thinking.

14. After NK agreeing to whatever Bill proposed, other "enemy" countries will feel more pressure to hop |
|
on board and really begin talking. This is such a success on so many levels. Bill may very well become the new negotiator with the problematic countries. Brilliant!!

17. They sent Bill with this message: |
|
Give the journalists to me, or I'll call my wife. Don't make me call my wife. (said in tone of a dad who says "Don't make me pull this car over.") Hang on, I got her on speed dial....all I have to do is press this button.....
They're afeered of Hillary! :scared:
Good. I happen to like an SOS who can kick ass & take names.

|
barely able to contain himself!! He and Tamron run a great show. Awesome to see the exuberance.
