the alcohol alon is more than enough to cause the crash
She could have had the weed 2 weeks ago, but the drinks were fresh.

5. "forget the marijuana"? - - From your link: |
|
She had a blood-alcohol level of 0.19 percent, and even more alcohol still in her stomach, so fresh that it had yet to be metabolized. There were high levels of a chemical found in marijuana, enough to pinpoint her last use at 15 minutes to an hour before her death in the worst traffic accident in Westchester County in 75 years.

in the sense that at the point where she was at, it didn't matter much anymore.
It's not like the toke after the 10th shot was the one that put her over the edge.

10. I'm curious how they determined the timeframe since her last use?... |
|
Edited on Tue Aug-04-09 10:53 PM by CrownPrinceBandar
they say there was 113ng/ml in her blood, and since THC takes so long to be shed by the body's fat cells, how did they get the 15 minutes number. I'd like to see the science behind this.
And I agree with you and so does the article: She was drunk.

13. No expert, but I'd suspect that it's possible to infer recent usage... |
|
...because THC is not released by body fat at a rate high enough to result that level of THC in the blood.

I hate it when OPs are intentionally vague as if it's some sort of inside story.

That's almost what it seems like - because this is just too bizarre.

12. Huh? If she was THAT drunk, why didn't it show up in the initial autopsy? |

'No medical reason' for Taconic State Parkway crash: Autopsy shows mom Diane Schuler was healthy(July 29) A preliminary autopsy yesterday uncovered no underlying health problems like a heart attack or stroke. "There is no medical reason for the crash," state police investigator Shannon Morrison said. "Basically, there was nothing wrong with her."
..."We don't feel it was alcohol, drugs or her just being sleepy," said investigator Joseph Becerra. "Witnesses said she drove in her lane perfectly - her driving was not indicative of an intoxicated motorist who swerves all over the road." Police said they don't believe the crash was a suicide... rocktivity

15. I've honestly never seen a story about a stoned driver killing anyone |
|
If anyone has, I would be interested to see. Not that I think driving under the influence of anything is a good idea. But from my experience, when someone is really stoned out of their mind they don't even try to drive a car. And if they do, they usually can't even find their keys and give up after a little while.
