If Dems were disrupting Townhall meetings, Rethugs would be demanding..... |
|
voter registration cards.
How come I get the idea that if the Dems were as immature as the Rethugs and positions reversed and Dems were disrupting Townhall meetings, that the Rethugs would be demanding people in attendance had to be registered voters of that politicians district?
And we have proof this would happen with all the Birther demand of Obama's "true" birth certificate.

1. If Dems were disrupting TH meetings, Pubs would just pre-screen |
|
all the attendants like they did when Shrub spoke anywhere.

2. lets be honest, no matter who disrupts the other side says its wrong |
|
and no matter the cause the other side disrupts, its part and parcel of the townhall setup and unless you have purity tests its not going to change..

and the sad thing is if this practice continues, then slowly the mere existence of Townhall type meetings will cease and that will give politicians just one more excuse to avoid citizens.

3. Attendance at republican town hall meetings is by invitation only. |
|
Republicans never truly hold a "town hall". They hold only scripted press conferences.
I do hope the democrats continue to hold open meetings, but disruptions shouldn't be tolerated.

9. And it's important to stress *why* those disruptions shouldn't be allowed to continue |
|
Because what they're doing is NOT allowing the rest of the people there to be heard. They'll scream about free speech, but what they're attempting to do is strip anyone not with their group of THEIR free speech rights.

4. Republican hypocrisy in all things is the result of their fundamental Authoritarian Paternalistic |
|
assumptions. Thus, everything they accuse Democrats of is more true of them. Paternalism, in particular, assumes the biggest government of all, total control of all hearts, minds, and souls.

11. Projection: Rightists will often impute to others that which they're most guilty of... |
|
... or embody in a more comprehensive way. They fear and loath their 'other' within, and so always need a corresponding target/enemy to attack. If you took away the Right's need to have an enemy, they'd have no movement at all.

5. A caller on Thom Hartmann had a great idea. Forewarn the crowd. |
|
He said the introducing speaker should tell the crowd that there will be disruptions, and even read some from the memo put out by freedomworks, or whoever is organizing it. Just go ahead and let everyone know what the deal is, a small minority are here to represent the insurance companies. They may be well meaning people, but have been misguided.
Then, have a person come to the mic and tell their personal healthcare story before the representative takes the stand. It sounded like a good plan to me.

get a projector set up ... after a few "questioners" have spoken, suddenly, the projector goes up ... with the memo displayed on the screen ...
and the "questions"/comments which already used are "checked off" ...
