I don't watch CNN anymore (prefer MSNBC) but was wondering are they now as biased as Fox News? |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-05-09 09:01 PM by Politics_Guy25
The reason I ask is I saw like 2 minutes of CNN tonight. The show had some lady named Campbell Brown saying to one of their reporters "there sure is a lot of anger out there at the president. These town hall protests and our online poll prove it." WTF? I saw her a couple of months ago and she was doing some segment about how unfair life is to Sarah Palin.
So that's 2 incidents in 2 months of blatant pro-GOP bias on her part at least. I googled her and I understand that she is married to Dan Senor, former senior Bush administration adviser and coalition provisional authority spokesperson in Iraq, so she's clearly a GOP stooge. I was just wondering about the rest of the network? Are they basically as biased as Fox now from what you can tell?
I caught Larry King Live where Larry King talked about how Gore was really president but had it stolen from him (in 2000 by GWB), then backed off saying "let's not go there" so maybe it's not as bad as I think.
They definitely seem to have a pro GOP bias lately, however, that they did not have in the 1990s.
CNN has sure tumbled a long way from the days when they had Bernie Shaw, Judy Woodruff, Peter Arnett, John Holliman, et al. It's shocking to me that the former network of Ted Turner has turned into Fox-lite. Is all of CNN as bad as Campbell Brown these days?
I am sure glad I switched to MSNBC when I did.

1. they're in between and it depends on who you're watching |
|
Some of them are Fox qualified - some not so bad. They definitely lean right though.

I never ever looked at Bernie Shaw or Judy Woodruff and said "you are a GOP/Dem stooge." If I hadn't known that Judy was married to Al Hunt, I'd have no idea of her views. As far as Bernie, I still have no idea what party he supports and that's great.
These days, they are all open books and shouldn't be.
I think it started after 9/11 when they brought Paula Zahn on board and a whole new team. Zahn was one of the most blatantly biased GOP journalists I've ever seen outside of Fox.
This is supposed to be the news network for the world. Sad that their tremendous global assets are being used to try to take down a dem president now.

3. MSNBC, Faux News, and CNN are not news organizations. |
|
Faux and CNN have their conservative agenda, and MSNBC has it's liberal agenda. They should not be calling themselves news organizations since they're filled with commentary and opinion, not actual reporting.

This is especially true for their Mourning Joe Show. It is liberal propaganda, which comes straight from a communist think-tank. We need brave soles who will stand in front of these tanks, and call them out on their agenda.

8. Joe Scarborough has a liberal agenda? |
|
Last time I checked, beady-eyed Joe had a three hour show every weekday morning. That's an hour more than Keith and Rachel combined.

11. I just wish BBC World was on wider distribution across the USA. |
|
We do get 5 hours a day via BBC America.. and some lucky cable customers (Cablevision and some smaller systems) have BBC World.
But then every news organisation has some bias.

17. MSNBC does not have a liberal agenda |
|
They have 3 liberal hosts for 3 hours, and they have Repug Scarborough on for 3 hours a day as well. The corporate owned rightist media would like to tell you that they are liberal, but to call MSNBC left just like FOX is right is incorrect.

You will never have Faux allowing a real alternate view on the issues like MSNBC gives Scarborough. MSNBC could almost be thought of as centrist.

5. Some folks think MSNBC is just as bad as Fox... |
|
MSNBC and CNN are corporate media. The bottom line is what drives them...not the need for quality unbiased news. They have their moments. I never miss Ed Schults and Rachel Maddow. I never forget MSNBC is still corporate.
Faux Noise...well, there is nothing to say about that network.

Those people you see on tv? Actors making multi-million salaries from their corporate media masters. You can't believe anything they say: they all spin like crazy.

I told them that I would no longer watch Lou Dobbs show because of his birtherness. I also told them I may no longer watch CNN all together. I can't get MSNBC where I live.

There is almost zero objective and honest reporting remaining. NPR and C-Span have become even more inaccurate than CNN. This is troubling in that these outlets have traditionally been above manipulation by the shadow government.

Even after using the weeniest representative of the left wing perspective they had to dump it because it gave air time to alternate views. At one time it was an excellent program and very popular. They tried to kill it and did.
