Under all this bluster and threats, what do you want your Congressman to do? |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-06-09 10:09 PM by kentuck
Do you want him to ignore it and vote for a public option anyway? Do you want him to put his tail between his legs and surrender to the brownshirt bullies? Or do you want him to fight back?
Should he just cancel all his town halls and give them the victory? And then go back to Washington and vote against health care reform because a bunch of assholes were loud and obnoxious? What do you think your Congressman should do?

2. They're all but announcing they are going to run and hide, no town halls anymore. They telegraphed |
|
their intent to avoid citizen criticism and this is how they are going to do it.

3. The 64,000 question... |
|
Do these thugs think that by bullying these congress members in an August town hall meeting they can force them to vote against health care reform when they get back to DC?

4. My Rep is Eric Paulsen - a sanctimonious little shit who likes |

to spew drivel about how he wants his daughters to have the same opportunities he did - then votes against the Equal Pay Act. He's rumored to be as crazy as Michelle Bachmann, but smart enough to keep his mouth shut in public.
He does not have town halls - a tradition in this district for decades (and done by past Republican reps). For a freshman Congressman he gets a lot of money from insurance and pharma. He just introduced a bill to "strengthen" health savings account (the money from which is often put in mutual funds so it's hard to say if the insurance industry or a brokerage house wrote the bill and "contributed" to him to introduce it)
What I think he should do is get caught with a dead girl or a live boy - as the saying goes.

5. I am starting to fear for these these Reps actually, the liberal ones behind a public option |
|
anyway. One of them already had to escorted to a car. There needs to be a bigger police presence at these places or some big huge intimidating union guys. These bullies need to be scared stiff.

6. Our Congressman is Jim Moran - |
|
a good Democrat, who only occasionally wanders, and there's a Town Hall scheduled for later in August here in Northern Virginia.
Jim has a habit, well-documented, of punching out people who aggravate him - although he's promised not to do that any more.
I suspect Jim will be more than ready for anyone who tries to disrupt his meeting. I wish I could be there, but the coverage will be comprehensive, of that I have no doubt - local TV stations LOVE Jim Moran......................................

10. I want my congress representatives to take this idiot action as a |
|
challenge to democracy and become even more determined to pass a good public option if not a single payer bill. If it gets so bad that we cannot have townhalls then use a trick we have used in war zones - drop pamphlets on every community in their district with the truth in it. Use radio/tv ads. Use as many ways as possible to get around these groups. But above all do not let them win this argument.

11. Oklahoma. My congress loonies are front and center leading these wackos. |
|
a commercial is currently running, sponsored by big pharma, advising OK citizens to call and thank our sen Coburn for his efforts to save us from the reforms. It's a weird place to live.

12. My congressman is Jim Sensenbrenner (Very R-WI) |
|
He doesn't have any townhalls scheduled for August--his usual pattern is to take a junket to Liechtenstein or Hong Kong or somewhere on the taxpayers' dime. I hope he stays there until New Year's Day so the rest of them can sort it out and pass health care reform without his No vote.

13. Cancel the town hall meetings, go back to DC, and do everything humanly possible |
|
to enact SINGLE PAYER. Barring that, a robust PUBLIC OPTION that will eventually out-compete the insurance companies and cause them to wither and die.
Oh, and say a hearty "fuck you" to the disrupters.
