Henry Waxman is waxing the Senate! |
|
NPR reported this morning that there is a feud brewing between the WH and the House. Apparently the WH and the Senate have agreed with the Drug companies that their contribution to health care reform will be $80B in cost savings to consumers. Waxman says this is not enough. The WH claims that this is the agreement between the WH and the Senate and the Drug companies, and the House is also "bound" to that. Waxman said that the House has an agreement with the WH and the American people to include a public option in health care reform and the Senate does not seem "bound" to that. So he is not "bound" to any agreement the Senate has made. Go get them Henry!

Because I couldn't get him to even talk about single payer and Representative Weiner's amendment.

5. Pelosi, Waxman, Conyers....they're all covering their asses. It's a done deal, |
|
and the insurance companies are going to take the spoils. There's nobody in Washington that is sincere about helping us "little people" over their corporate masters. Well, maybe Kucinich. The rest of them are just smiling for the cameras, and Kucinich knows it. A lot of real liberals know it....those of us who have been through all of this crap before.
The congress may pass some kind of health care, but if anyone thinks it's going to make the insurance / pharmaceutical industry quit gouging the American citizens, and back off on some of their abuses, they're kidding themselves.
This show was over before the lights went down.

12. How come the Republicans never give up so easily? We need to fight for, at least, a |
|
public option that is strong enough to open the door to single payer in the future. Where are our revolutionary leaders? Obviously not in elected positions. But surely if we unite and act we can make a difference, no?

10. Henry was for single payer before he was oblivious to it.. He was just promoted to top leadership |
|
and apparently oblivion to single payer is the minimum requirement from the corporate masters for membership in the leadership.
If you think about it, it wasn't until Al Gore left the party leadership that he was for single payer, and in Waxman and Obama's cases they were for it before they were promoted and then oblivious to it.
Money and power trump good public policy again apparently.
