So, anyone who doesn't believe we should all jump over a cliff with hysteria
Edited on Tue Aug-11-09 02:58 PM by xultar
at the first hint of a possible situation is deemed a freeper on DU?

I don't get it DU. Why brand people who want to take time and gather information before becoming hysterical a freeper?

Shouldn't it be that in critical or important situations we react calmly, gather the facts, and then react instead of leaping off into a crazy mass induced hysterical trance?

Don't we get all up in the MSMs ass when they lead people into mass induced hysteria? But when we do it to one another...the ones who want to be rational are the freepers...

Can someone explain that shit to me?

6. I just see all these people asking.."Who's the freeper using Unrec on this thread"
Which makes me laugh my ass off because...
I look @ the thread and realize that it's stupid
It'll have a just a link, no commentary or anything else...
A thread based on a rumor...
A thread based on hysterical nonsense
etc...

I think people hit rec or unrec before they even read the post, they do it just based on the subject line of the thread (I know I've done it) then I look back and I'm like this is some stupid shit, it doesn't belong on the greatest.

But the people who are so angry about the unrec don't realise that they are actually feeding and giving power the people trying to make them angry. It's all a big circle, of action reaction. If they didn't get so angry the people would give up trying to make them angry.

It's just so stupid, like sheep following one another off a cliff. Actually it's kinda fucking funny when you stand back and watch.

8. stupid people tend to be authoritarians
And authoritarian tactic #1 is accuse anyone who disagrees with you of being evil. Unfortunately, this phenomenon is not limited to the right wing. I do find 'who dares unrec my mighty post' complaints a great filter for deciding who not to take seriously, though.

5. I agree. And no, I cannot explain as I subscribe to your way of thinking and don't understand it.
Haven't seen a lot of the accusations of freeperness that you speak of, but when I commented about remaining cool, calm and collected in the face of these nutbags at town halls meeting I got some flak for being "weak" or somesuch.

9. When someone says freeper things, people tend to think they
are freepers.

See how that works? Not hard is it.

11. You know what's funny about this whole thing?
It's all so contradictory.

Freepers tend to all march in lockstep with each other. A bunch of little parrots all spewing out the same message.

So when someone here at DU dares to be different...i.e. step out of the box of sameness....they're accused of being a Freeper.

huh?

I always wonder why calling a fellow DU'er a "Freeper" makes sense. Democracy is supposed to be about respectful dissent and difference of opinion. But express a difference of opinion, and the Freeper Madness takes over...

aughhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

a different opinion!!!!

must be a

FREEPER!!!

or...

a TROLL!!!!!

if it weren't so sad it would be hilarious...
