Topical Bumpersticker - Brainchild of DU's own Madamesilverspurs

She had this idea and posted it and I asked permission to turn it into a bumpersticker, and ultimately I'll put it across my entire truck back.

I'm floating this trial balloon first with two questions:

How many in your opinion would get it ( I live in NC, and unfortunately the South has to be taken into consideration by me)

Would it make better sense to say: Do you speak Limbaugh?

and ultimately I will consider any other opinion on the subject.

1. Well, to be honest, it's not one I would put on my car.
Whether or not it said it in English.

Reason being that with bumperstickers, people won't always read or be able to read the fine print and will see just the symbols. They'll think that you agree with the equation. Besides, I wouldn't ever want to have a swastika on my car no matter what the message.

just my opinion.

2. HMMMMM - I suppose that is why it is not appealing to
anyone.
I suppose also that I need to consider the old adage:" Too clever can be dumb."

Thanks for your feedback, parasim, I was uneasy about the German, but not the Swastika.
And never thought about that the message without the words could be taken totally W R O N G.

Back to the drawing board.
It's only those who don't try that never make mistakes.

8. Well, I'm not a big fan of bumperstickers in the first place.
I mean, it is clever. But I never put bumperstickers on my car because it drive me nuts trying to read others' bumperstickers. Type is usually too small, or there's too much to read in the few seconds one has to read them (unless you're sitting at a light directly behind somebody). The only bumperstickers I'd consider would be a single logo, like Obama's or even Apple's, or perhaps the "coexist" one, a Darwin fish maybe. A couple I know has one that says "Dog is my copilot" which I think is funny.

Still I don't go for 'em. Never have.

That is the cool thing about DU, though. It makes a great sounding board when you're trying out ideas. :)

3. English would help, but I don't like it. It looks too much like support that Obama=Nazi.

6. YUP = it reflects our frustration, but does not work as a
bumpersticker. Glad you folks caught me in time.

5. What # 1, 3 and 4 said.
I also won't join in on the endless demonizing of all things German that is implied in that sign.
You know why, Mira. The Germans have paid for several generations for what their ancestors have done, and I don't wish the same fate for generations of Americans to come.

7. I love it just as it is.
I just don't love it as a bumper sticker, for all the reasons parasim spelled out in the first response.

Try it on a t-shirt. That allows you to bust it out when the mood strikes you or the political opportunity presents itself. Since the message takes a minute to register, a t-shirt also gives you a face-to-face encounter should discussion ensue.

9. You really can't be ironic with a swastika.
Sorry.

10. Don't do it
The general populace doesn't get satire or any kind of humor that makes you think for a few seconds. It will piss off people on the left and the right.

11. Too clever.
Any Freeper would love the symbolic math part, and by the time you get to Limbaugh--especially with the stylized font, not to mention the German--I don't know. I just have a feeling you might wind up with liberals giving you the finger and conservatives honking and giving the thumbs up.

13. I think it will be misinterpreted in either English or German
I think knuckle-dragging racists will drive by you and give you a great big smile and the thumbs-up sign while they shout "fuckin-A right!" and leave you in a trail of fetid blue engine smoke.

15. wish you could just say Sprechen sie Limbaugh? except it might offend modern Germans
I'm sure they get sick and tired of our equating everything German with Nazis.

Unfortunately, and I live in NC too, it'll go right over the heads of right-wingers.
