I AM SICK AND TIRED OF THE THREATS

I'm watching Rachel Maddow now and she is doing an awesome job cataloging all of the threats of violence and death against lawmakers and Obama. But my heart is heavy with woe about what is going on and what she is reporting. The threats and violence MUST STOP NOW.

On Edit: After she finished cataloging all of the violence and threats, she had an abortion doctor on who has suffered through the violence of the anti-abortion movement. As noted, the anti-abortion movement has used assassination as a tactic. They have been killing doctors and clinic workers for a long time. The doctor said that the kind of things going on in the town-hall meetings is just a prelude. He believes real violence, involving assassination is on the way.

This shit must be stopped.

Investigating the death threats should be going on and likely is. (btw -- as you know, I am with you on this, just trying to channel the outrage productively. Rachel is doing great by airing these items.)

I am pretty sure that the people making the death threats are listening to the media stars -- Limbaugh, Beck, Savage, etc. -- and no one else. So we are in a sticky situation where we have to silence someone in a public forum in order to address the fomenting hate that is going on.

Republicans in Congress will not criticize the incitement to violence until Obama is dead. Then they will criticize the protests and condemn the violence, but say it was Obama's own damn fault. I would not be surprised if the speeches already have been written.

20. Bernie, I agree wholeheartedly on this one. This shit has gone too far...

and yet I know and you know that it has really only just begun. And as I look down the road, I only see the situation turning so ugly, that a breakdown of societal checks and balances ensues. It's ugly, and it's going to get very ugly. There are too many shitpot stirrers, and too many mindless idiots with a lot of pent up anger, and a large dose of bigotry to dispense. Seriously, I am thinking about getting a gun. Never felt that way until now.
