Julia Hall may be the most hated 11-year-old among conservative pundits in America today.

Ever since the sixth-grade resident of Malden, Massachusetts, asked President Barack Obama a question at his town hall on health care Tuesday, the conservative punditocracy has unleashed a torrent of criticism against the girl, accusing her of being an Obama plant.

“As I was walking in, I saw a lot of signs outside saying mean things about reforming health care,” Hall asked the president when the microphone was handed to her. “How do kids know what is true, and why do people want a new system that can — that help more of us?”

2. If they put that 11 year old up against Rush, Beck, O'Reilly and Hannity...
(and all at the same time) they'd be pissing themselves.

C'mon, she's a (D) and her Mom's kept her involved. No way she couldn't kick their asses with facts and logic.

3. Yep
But if it had been that 14 year old conservative kid with the squeaky voice (I forget his name; he was at the CPAC conference) asking a hostile question, they would have hailed him as a brave hero.

4. that's not what i have heard
i have heard them criticizing the girls mother for allegedly using her to lob a softball at the prez, and at him for taking the question IF he knew she was the daughter of such an operative.

i read the article . i see no examples of them tearing into HER. sorry. FAIL. where is an example. quote it. i don't see it.

6. I think the Globe article says that her mother was a major Obama
supporter giving money and time to the campaign.

Edited on Wed Aug-12-09 09:33 PM by paulsby
claim there is a tearing INTO the 11 yr old girl.

i see no criticism of the girl , let alone a "tearing into" or stuff like that. the criticism is directed at whomever allegedly used her to place the question (her mother?) andor obama if he knew about it.

12. Got to be careful with that
Would we disallow say a Hispanic woman who was not a US citizen, but had a son in the Army in Iraq, from asking a town hall question?

The media uproar would be very loud.

16. Okay, then, adults. 18 or older. That was what I actually meant anyway.
30 or older is even better. The frontal lobe is developed by 30.

Kids' world experience is too immature to provide meaningful input to town hall meetings. And if their questions are provided by adults, then the adults should ask the questions.

Kids asking questions at town hall meetings only infantilize the nation even more than commercial propaganda does already.
